You do realize by publicly telling all of us, he has either seen this by now or been told by others about his botting activities? Information like this needs to be reported through the proper channels and then allow them to take action. We are only players and have no control of suspected bots.
In other words, IRL you just shouted “Hey! Everyone there is a drug dealer over there on the corner!”. Doing this makes the drug dealer relocate and prevents or even thwarts an on going DEA operation to bring his ring down.
Does it matter you ask, yes it does, when done properly.
You may be surprised how many folks do know about these forums. Ive always been a forum fanatic in all games that have one…and i always try to get players to participate on them because they complain about not knowing about updates and other things going on.
“Go read the forum and youll know whats happening.”
Their reply is always the same…..”im here to play a game, not to read and write on a forum.”
Nevertheless i find it amazing if not hilarious that people bring up perceived stuff like that Antrihrist guy who essentially flags and reports you as a bot if you just play the game.
Jump to another system → clearly a bot → reported
Flying a Caracal doing it → clearly a bot → reported
Logged in to long for him to be acceptable → bot → reported
One man corp → …
Really, what do you expect? To just pay CCP the monthly fee and never login so you don’t use any of the “illegal” game functions?
If anything, that Antihrist guy should be banned from the game for misusing the report function.
A lot of reporting just happens because the person that is reporting doesn’t know what is happening. Got reported myself for “exploiting” because the person thought i did things inside a station that only could be done outside. Well, i was outside the station at the time and then had to explain that to CCP.
If it was my place to create and maintain a “report player” feature, it would warn them abusing the report system could cause a temporary ban for such abuse. A report feature is not meant for anyone to play game cop or attempt to seek vengeance on other players. The report would be read in 24 to 48 hours and the matter would be done. Don’t expect any reply. Don’t report the same player again. Don’t notify the player telling them you reported their actions. All of these actions would add strikes against the reporting player.
Meanwhile, a week of server monitoring of the reported player should be enough to log any suspicious behavior. They keep very detailed records on your PC, about your actions, I imagine they must have much more on their server.
At any rate, a player docking and undocking, a broken bot, or someone drunk at the keyboard doesn’t matter to me. If they were out in a squadron of ship, blowing stuff up, and being a general nuisance, I would report it.
I think perhaps there is no punishment for reporting bots and being wrong, as it would deter people from taking a risk on something they cant guarantee. If it is a bot, yay. game is better, but they get no reward for bringing the bots to attention, but if they are wrong a punishment. Just bad business.
I did report him but I highly doubt anything will be done against it. I know why bots exist in MMOs, I’ve played plenty of online games to figure it out. But in this case, even if his script worked, what the heck was he about to do in a 0.7 to make isk, to make this worth it (unless it’s a hacked account).
That’s what the post was about, literally why. If you bot you probably do it somewhere more profitable.
And no, I don’t think he moved, he was in the 0.7 for days. What actually got me to check further was that he was popping on my dscan every several seconds.
And yeah, I think that someone that can play this game can figure out a bot vs a real player in the majority of cases. If some of you can’t see these blatant attempts as botting, I’m sorry for you
he doesnt know. He’s convinced and even when the supposed bot is still playing after the reporting he’s still convinced. That’s why he brought it to the forums. To attempt a dogpile shamefest towards someone he doesn’t know and has no clue what was being done.
He’s detecive columbo on EVE, without the cool drip and detective skills.
I have been assured that is the correct use of “drip”.
Sweet jez, I was taking a shower and it hit me, “Do this dumb mf film the pilot name?”
It’s debatable, the name is kind cut off, but we all know it’s the name of the ship.
OH MAN, if it was me on this video… OH BOY. Trolling me is one thing, accusing me of a banable offense with RL consequeces in public forums. I was going to start with some VPN alts sending me very rude EVE mail, followed by some nasty letter to CCP starting with “WTF IS THIS SHYT”.
This dude is so out of his depth… Jez, he’s so lucky that dude in the video is probably some asian that don’t read the forums… Oh man.
Sometimes get a grasp at reality, accusing other of serious stuff demands hard proof, The burden of proof rests on the prosecution
I’m outta here. Don’t pull that crap on me, don’t even dream about it. Troll at will, but don’t cross the line, I’m not a nice person.
That dude better be a bot, someday he will see this.
You should look up what eve players have done to each other. In and out of game.
Personally, I wouldn’t mind if eve reverted back to what it once was. One of the greatest passtimes our corp has is screen shots of rage texts and laughing about them in discord.
