Can you explain what a “relic bot” is?
I’m clueless here, does this mean someone’s made bots that can actually find and back these sites?
If that’s the case, I’m honestly impressed, but also screw them for doing it.
Seriously though, what does that mean?
I definitely don’t use Tech III cruisers, in fact the one I have I never fly, it’s a very expensive eggshell. I also love, but don’t do exploration sort of stuff in an Astero, they are too easy to catch.
My favorite ship for this stuff is a Stiletto, it doesn’t have all the bonuses, or any for that mater for hacking or scanning, but it’s super fun, and honestly I like hacking, the harder the better and with no bonuses it’s a lot harder.
I have, for the most part, stopped doing it though, it just hasn’t been worth it for quite a while now.
I think the rewards are good the way they are, lets say you run 2-3 sites and make between 10-30mil isk, it is still 7 or 8 times the value of the ibicus you used to get those. If you are flying a full pimped out stratios you just need to be more picky about the sites you are chosing, lowering the risk and pumping the reward.
To be fair if they fixed the loot in the cans, then you wouldn’t be cherry picking them and leaving scraps for everyone else. Also sites that have half their cans looted should OBVIOUSLY despawn… who the ■■■■ leaves a feature in their game thats literally just bait loot thats entirely a waste of time. If they would just fix ■■■■■■■ empty cans or sub 1m cans there would be a better risk reward ratio and less ■■■■■■■■ scraps left behind for everyone.
Loot in cans doesn’t need to be “fixed”, it’s perfectly fine that there is variation. If you hack enough cans you will convert to an average anyway, so why should all cans contain a similar value?
Also, it would be near impossible to have all cans contain a similar value. The loot inside is random salvage, some of it is worth much more than others depending on market prices. Should market prices determine the loot in the cans? That would be silly.
Also it would be bad if a site immediately despawns when some cans are looted, sometimes you need to warp off (danger) and come back a bit later. It would be a shame if all the cans are immediately gone upon warping out.
Maybe i should have said a “minimum” value on the cans. Idc whats inside but if you spend 30 mins finding a site and 5/6 cans contain under 100k when you’re supposed to be making 1m each can minimum its just wack. HS mining should not outpay explo…
My minimum value is 1M ISK. Everything that is below that value, I leave behind for scrubs and bots to waste their time on. As for the despawning: the sites despawn after an hour. That’s one hour where no one gets a new site which in turn means ever so slightly less relic loot on the market which increases prices which makes them more rewarding.
You may be doing something wrong at those success rates and payment rates. In 30 minutes, unless you’re very unlucky, you should be able to find more than a couple sites and if you’re in the right region, those sites pay for tens of millions if not hundreds of millions of ISK.
(Assuming you know how to find sites and have good skills)
With lower skills it may take more time to find sites, but explo definitely outpays mining. No idea about high sec rates though, it’s possible that there are simply too many high sec explorers.
And no, you’re not 'supposed to make 1m each can’. On average maybe. I sometimes go for an hour without site, or open cans with nothing, or carbon. And another hour I find enough sites with a value of 300M ISK. That variance makes it fun, but if you really don’t like it: if you open enough cans the variance stops playing a role.
