I can assure you that literally everyone who is immortal and constantly deals with immortals inevitably turns into a psychopath. It’s a natural consequence of not having to fear anything at all. It’s not a natural consequence just of not fearing death. There have been countless societies who did not fear death. Fear of death is rather immature anyway … no, that’s not the same as having a survival instinct.
Immortality is equal to infinite boredom. There’s only a limited amount of pleasure you get from drinking and ■■■■■■■ around every single day. Eventually it’s all boring. At some point people will start killing themselves over and over again just for the heck of it. Subgroups of immortals will start whining about how they wished they wouldn’t be immortal anymore. Other people would tell them to suck it up, because that’s how it is.
We’d see a rise in new breeds of scientists who will make it their goal to completely destroy the planet, or even the solar system, or the whole universe, just to end the neverending struggle of Life.
Did you know, if you cram enough photons into a single spot in space, the universe will die!
Looked at it that way then once more ingame CODE. are the good guys, as they make life exciting and non-boring for other immortal capsuleers. Pretty much like how the EVE players in CODE. work tirelessly to keep EVE the space pixel game exciting (of course these players are not psychopaths, but unselfishly working towards a better game for all).
But the thing is that there would not be excitement. Even if it was exciting at first, at the beginning of your everlasting suffering in the hell of the eternally living, you’d still be bored of it eventually. Pretty quickly. There’s literally no escaping it.
Worse … we’d be forced to live with carebears forever. How absolutely ■■■■■■ up that would be! A bunch of immortal, whining pussies you just want to stab every single ■■■■■■■ day and it would be of no ■■■■■■■ use ever.
