I don’t have a problem with people disagreeing with me when I’m sharing an opinion. I do think it’s a bit odd when I spent most of this thread explaining how things actually work on the CSM to see disagreement from someone who has never been on it, but hey. We live in a post-factual world.

The problem is of course that while people rage against it another part of the players will just happily consume it and buy the stuff.
Just like in Wargaming games: we can, and do, all rage about how despicable WG’s monetisation’s tactics are but in the end there’s a large group of players who aren’t raging and instead are buying it all. “Wargaming sucks man, this is so wrong” :buys another premium ■■■■■■■■ ship:.
So if those sales work then the company is effectively proven right because apparently “the players want it” and isn’t going to stop doing it. Compared to how much gets sold how big is the vocal group really? We will never know that because we can’t really tally up the yeas and nays and we certainly will never know how many people bought stuff that an unknown portion of us find to be despicable.

In my perspective, this is a significant problem. I had a near-decade hiatus that began sometime between Crucible (late 2011) and Inferno (early 2012), returning in early 2021. That decade jolt is just one of my anecdotes. I have no hard data.
But CCP doesn’t get to pick their customers nor their mentality/mood.
CSM Fact Check
- The CSM are democratically elected by player base votes.
False, votes are counted by accounts not individual players. CSM = pay to win. (Strange the CSM are not complaining about that alongside p2w ships, hypocrites).
- The players choose the CSM.
False, CCP considers player choices then handpicks the CSM. Every year CCP refuses to work with several CSM candidates disqualifying them.
- The CSM is a worthwhile enterprise.
False, self evident.

Yeah, its always great when someone comes to the forums and creates these long posts about how bad they think something is (usually because it affects their specific playstyle), and does not even provide a solution or suggestion for a replacement.

Because the anti-CSM people need to make alts to make their opinion look more popular than it really is. The best part is many of the anti-CSM people are people who ran for CSM, lost, and now want it gone because they couldn’t get on it.

The only place I see first time posters (by the hundreds) is in the “Worship me, I’m Brisc” thread. The pro CSM thread. I can see an argument for one, maybe two alts in this one.
