Resolution and UI issues

I’m getting really sick and tired of this happening every time I launch the game, so I’m posting to see if anyone knows a fix before I give up.

The game will not launch in Fixed Window mode at the resolution set by the monitor. I use an ultrawide 3440x1440 monitor. Fixed Window appears as a small window in the top left. If I set it to Windowed and maximize, the resolution show as 5160x2054…my monitor doesn’t even have that resolution as an option. I already tried manually changing the resolution in the files to 5160x2054,and it worked on the first launch, but then when I restarted the game the screen was so massive that it stretched beyond the boundaries of the monitor and I couldn’t select anything. Sometimes setting it to Windowed and maximizing it, then setting it to fixed window will make it show in fixed window correctly at 3440x1440, but it doesn’t work every time.

Every time I launch the game it bugs out and everything resets, then it’s a cat and mouse game trying to chase down how to fix it, while trying to fix this, changing the resolutions causes the UI layout to change and I have to reposition everything every…single…time. 2-3 hours EVERY SINGLE DAY trying to figure out how to just play the game without issues.

I have been having this issue for weeks, here are the steps I’ve already looked into.
Cleared the cache
Create a custom profile: I can’t, the button to create one isn’t on the launcher, which is a whole other issue that needs to be fixed. So I’m stuck with default.
Reinstalled the game
Deleted all folders
I was using Steam, I uninstalled and reinstalled through website download, no change.
Scaling on the computer itself: it’s set to 100% recommended default already.
Set the other monitor to default: all that did was mess up my desktop, and then launched the game on that monitor and created a whole new set of issues, I know about changing which monitor is selected, I still have to go through the same issue.
Drivers are all updated.
Game files are all updated.

I’ve searched and searched and searched, and tried and tried and tried, day after day after day.

Wow…new users can only post 1 picture, even though my account was created back in like 2005…

Today’s fix was to change the monitor setting back and forth between monitor 1 and 2 in game while fullscreen. Then set it to monitor 1 while in windowed mode, move the window over to monitor 2, maximize it within monitor 2, then select fixed window and it jumped over to monitor 1 with the correct 3440x1440 resolution…and messed up the UI.

I also play with two different monitors with different resolutions.

It works usually fine with two profile setups, one for each monitor. The only time I have resolution issues is when I switch between my monitor setups a lot, for example turn off my primary small monitor to only play on my bigger secondary monitor. If I don’t do that, no issues.

To start a new profile, you can start typing a new profile name here:

And then start the game with that profile.

Note: the new profile isn’t created upon creating the name, but when you launch the game with that profile. After launching the profile folders will be created and the profile will be available next time you open your launcher.

As I’m only ever using my second omega account for multiboxing and only on a smaller screen, I’ve made a ‘multibox’ profile for it that fits the resolution of that other screen.

I already tried that. It would have been seen more easily if I was allowed to post all of the pictures instead of just 1. Here’s the picture that I tried to upload along with the other. There is no option to create another profile.

Can you not select the default text and start typing a new name?

Discourse has trust levels set up for sharing stuff.

As a “pod” you dont have much in terms of priveleges

Thank you Gerard, you were correct about the profile. They don’t make it obvious at all that you need to click where it says Default and just start typing. All guides I saw showed extra windows, the ones that appear after you click on Default.

Still having the issue with the resolution though. I already tried correcting it and then logging into the game and then closing it to see if it would save to the new profile, didn’t work.

Only temporary fix without messing up my UI is to have window 1 selected in the settings, set it to window mode, drag it to the second screen, maximize it, then select fixed window and it will automatically move to window 1 with the correct resolution.

Glad to hear you were able to make a profile!

I agree it’s not completely intuitive, especially the way new profiles are only made once you log in with a new name was surprising me when I found out.

I have no experience with fixing the window resolution though, mine are both 1920x1080. Maybe someone else with EVE on a widescreen can help.
