[Resolved] 20240815 - SKINR Issues Post Downtime

Were aware of issues with SKINR that have arose post downtime on 15 August. We’re looking into the issues which involve the lack of SKINS being displayed in the SKINR Paragon Hub.

Update 12:11 - We believe we have identified the cause of the issue. Its likely that the fix will require a server restart. We will give players enough time to get safe before any restart happens.

Update 12:17 - We’re aiming to deploy the client patch and restart the server at 13:30 UTC. Please ensure your characters are safe when the server restarts.

Update 13:27 - Client patch and server restart is now tentatively scheduled for 14:00 UTC.

Update 14:00 - Our sincere apologies but once again we will have to defer the server restart and client patch. We will provide an update when we have an new estimate of when the restart and client patch will happen.

Update 14:37 - The current plan is still to do a server restart and a client update today to fix the issues with SKINR that arose after downtime. We will let you know when the restart and patch deployment will happen.

Update 15:40 - We’re aiming to test the fix at around 16:10 once the test build is complete. Assuming the fix passes testing we hope to deploy the fix between 16:30 and 17:00 UTC. A server restart will still be required alongside a client patch deployment.

Update 16:54 - We have verified that the fix works. The next step is to deploy the client and server patch. We will be restarting Tranquility server at 17:30 UTC. Please ensure your characters are safe. An in-game message will be sent to warn players.

Update 17:30 - The server is being rebooted and the client patch deployed.

Update 17:42 - The server is open to players. The issues that arose after downtime are resolved but we will continue to monitor for any further problems.

They are gone off of the ships as well. Its like they dont exist in the game anymore.

This is not entirely a bad thing.

Any reason this cannot wait until next downtime? Its not like ships work any different and everything looks the same on potato mode.

You are a bad company and deserve the flame you get.

While we’ve got you on here, what is up with the 163 MB update to the launcher every single day? As in literally, every single time I fire up the launcher it downloads 163 MB right off the bat. Every. Single. Day.

CCP will be losing out on all those precious SKINR profits. They’d much rather kill the experience of 40k people (I ain’t committing to anything in-game atm) than wait for tomorrow’s dt :upside_down_face:

If you like, maybe you can request they mail the updates to you on a CD

I would have assumed skinner didn’t even run on tranquility, why would tranquility need a reboot?

I’m at this point 100% sure somebody did a database wipe XD
I hope you’ll have a backup somewhere of all the stuff that we had.

Surely they do, but the question is, how old is it?!

:eyes: :psyccp:

SKINR is a 100% RL money driven system. If they do not have skins available that people paid for this opens the door for charge-back’s through credit cards. This is a massive liability for the company and their drive to resolve it is expected. While I am not a fan of SKINR and the need for PLEX to do anything I do give them props for wanting to fix a bug ASAP. Also there’s a loss of revenue since we’re not able to create skins using it & spend that PLEX they just happen to have on sale.

My point was, what is it for? They’ve never said. It will also download 400-500 MB on occasion with no patch notes whatsoever.

Lots of patches without notes, then Equinox hit, with a rather small extra patch

Externalized systems working as intended. Weren’t these outsourced systems meant to prevent whole server restarts? :stuck_out_tongue:
