[Resolved] 2025/03/20 Extended Downtime Notification

Hello everyone,

There will be extended downtime on Thursday, 20 March, for work on the EVE Online database and ESI Infrastructure.

We expect ESI services to go offline at approximately 10:55 UTC and resume at 11:35 UTC.

We expect the database work will take up to 15 minutes beyond the regular downtime and estimate the server will be available at 11:30 UTC.

Please note that Tranquility (TQ) will be bought back online as soon as the work is completed, which can be ahead of schedule of the previously mentioned downtime.

Updates of the progress will be posted here, and if the update time exceeds this window, will also be posted on the status page.

Edit:
Access to Tranquility has been restored as of 11:21 UTC
ESI work is now completed as well.

can we start a system where downtime is moved forward by one hour every week?
just so us AUTZ folk don’t get wtfpwnd every freaking day?
Share the love and joy of Downtime!
EDIT: but yes, thank you for the heads up!

I have no problem with this.

Being that we are at the arse end of the world, expecting such consideration is probably being overly optimistic

I would just love to live in a world where abbreviations was not a thing. I’m just a simpleton driving a truck for a living - I have no idea what ‘ESI’ or ‘TQ’ or ‘wtfpwnd’ means…
The sentence “I’m too old for this ■■■■” reeeeally comes to mind here, but I love the game so I just keep google all the stuff I don’t understand.
Thank you CCP for a great game!

CCP is on euro time, and perform maintenance and updates during downtime. It sucks that it breaks up your gameplay and I can sympathize, but as long as there is a downtime it does not make sense to move it outside of their working hours. Imagine yesterdays anomaly respawn problem, but everyone already went home for the day. At best, you increase operational costs paying for overtime.

It’s mid day in Europe, it’s not during downtime

downtime IS at mid-day in Europe LOL

In your game client, in the bottom right corner it says “Tranquility” or TQ - That’s where you pick your server. But as the others are never really up (for normal folk) it does seem a bit moot.
ESI is “Eve Swagger Interface”, a fluffed up name for API - A bit like calling a burger “Whopper” or “Big Mac”. It’s still just an API.
I don’t see staffers using wtfpwnd, you can google that.

That goes with the territory for anyone in IT.

Taht´s fine, stick to it, continue learn stuff - that´s what makes a capsuleer become better

Actually the player base of EVE indeed is way older than most other MMO´s probably even ‘all’ other?

ESI = EVE Swagger Interface, a so called API (Application Programming Interface).
An API enables computer programs to retrieve informations or interact with a system - which is ESI for EVE.
ESI enables developers to build all those 3rd party tools using actual dynamic and static inGame data, like your charackters Skillpoints, the name and security status of systems, etc. And also to execute actions like sending a EVE Mail, set up waypoints or a destination automatically, etc.
You don´t really have to care about ESI if you aren´t developing stuff externally.
You are using ESI when logging in via any external app which interacts with EVE.

TQ = ‘Tranquility’ the main EVE Online Server where you play on. In comparism to for example ‘Singularity’ which is a test server for upcoming updates.
