I heard “The Hunt” was a lot of fun. But I don’t think it will ever be coming back, unfortunately…
I managed to find five different Capsuleer Day XXII sites this morning across five different systems. Unfortunately, they were all either completed or nearly finished. At this rate, I don’t see myself being able to complete the event successfully.
I mean if you’re referring to the issue with peoples perceived scarcity of sites then yes i was more than aware of that from just the topic name alone, although i also understand that people are mostly blaming their inability to travel off the beaten path or getting unlucky
Its pretty much the same as other events, you need to not be hanging around the popular places, i think it took me a couple of days to complete the reward track just from doing the hacking sites
I agree, though from my experience going all the way back to the beginning, this event seems to have noticeably fewer sites in high-sec. Granted, that could be due to increased player activity and more people running them—but it’s hard to quantify without solid data.
It’s not due to increased activity in high-sec; there are almost no sites (except ore), and the respawn rate is non-existent. This is the first event in over 2 years that I had to complete through mining - so that speaks volumes.
And yet, i and many others managed to complete the track really early on, i had no issues finding hacking sites when i wasn’t sitting next to busy highways, like i get people like to try and point blame at CCP when it comes to these things, but i’m pretty sure you probably could find the same number of sites i did if you traveled around enough
If the majority of high-sec players are in Caldari space, then they should spawn more sites. It’s as simple as that. I’m not going to travel 50+ jumps to find event content elsewhere.
If this event is designed to encourage players to undock and engage in the game more then it should be making it easier (not harder) for players.
Me mining/manufacturing away to complete this event created zero PvP opportunities for opposing players with almost no competition.
They are evenly distributed, they aren’t going to just feed more sites in to one region just because you don’t want to travel 15 jumps away from jita, either move to find content or accept that you’re not going to find it
And it is doing both, its encouraging you to undock and leave your comfort zone, the fact that you prefer to stamp your feet and whine that there aren’t enough sites where you live so that you don’t have to travel is neither here nor there
Its not hard to fly around, you just don’t want to do it, which is an entirely different issue
It’s not just me - many players don’t want to leave their comfort zones. Pretty sure that null-sec didn’t have to venture 50+ jumps to find content for this event or the whining would’ve bern unbearable…
And before you start reading me the riot act, I spent a lot of time and effort establishing roots and assets in one area so I didn’t have to relocate 50+ jumps every time I login. Not everyone has unlimited time to spend on EVE…
Make sure null is happy; ignore everyone else…
Yes, and this is called a skill issue, this is not something CCP can fix, this is something only you can fix
So, we have realized that the issue isn’t scarcity but it is, infact, down to the unwillingness of players to leave the forge and venture out of their comfort zone, no sympathy for you
No, it’s a time management issue: I don’t have unlimited time. If they make these activities too cost prohibitive from a time perspective, players just won’t participate.
I don’t see how actively trying to disengage players is a good thing.
As I said, I completed the vast majority of this event MINING. And for the first time, across all 3 of my characters. So I’m not complaining, but it was boring as f**k - and there was zero competition or engagement between players. Fine with me.
And I didn’t have to relocate 50+ jumps to achieve this. In fact, I couldn’t have completed it through mining if I’d relocated - because I needed all the required assets setup and situated in a specific way.
Play the game the way you want - just not when, where and how you’d like to…
You’re not listening.
Exactly this. @Arthur_Aihaken gets it.
It’s not just about comfort zones. As you said, time is a major factor. And let’s be real—traveling anywhere in this game usually means threading through chokepoints. My 6b ISK Marauder doesn’t exactly love sightseeing tours through Uedama.
You keep saying that, but it makes zero sense. Do you mean skill points? Because a one-day-old player can autopilot their pod toward the Outer Rim—it’s not a matter of “skill.” It’s a matter of time, risk, and design.
Nailed it. CCP caters to a certain type of player, and it’s been obvious for years. I’ve been pushing back on this since 2003. After years of observation and gameplay, the patterns are clear.
I’ve got enough ISK, PLEX, and assets to keep my account going indefinitely. I have approximately 70 years worth of PLEX.
I’m not trying to “win” the game—I want to enjoy it. But folks like @Cypherous seem dead set on telling everyone else how they should be enjoying it.
CCP gets a lot right. But man, they miss nearly as often.
I am listening, but i’m also willing to leave The Forge in order to look for sites
Yes, he gets that he wants to be lazy and have CCP hand him everything on a silver platter, do you know how many solar systems exist in EVE? if you’re never willing to leave the area surrounding jita then you’re never going to experience anything and you are going to end up with your event sites being contested, its a simple population issue that you yourself can deal with if you’re willing
So don’t go through Uedama, but accept that this means you might have to travel more than 5 jumps in order to do things and that CCP isn’t going to base all its decisions on the fact that you don’t want to go too far
Yes, and the issue is you don’t want to invest the time, the effort nor risk that you might have to travel in to places outside of your comfort zone, its a player skill issue, not skill points no, but a straight inability for you to do a thing
I’m just telling you how it is, CCP isn’t going to address your literal unwillingness to travel by handing you dozens of sites, no effort no reward, so you can indeed play the game however you like, however the game will not be adapting to your playstyle and you will find that as your area gets more and more congested you will have less and less access to things like event sites
Its literally cause and effect here
So, there’s completing the event, and there’s “completing the event in a satisfying (or acceptable) fashion”.
For myself, if I have to jump through what I consider to be cumbersome, slow and boring hoops in order to finish, then I simply won’t do the event. As much to add my “players who don’t bother to participate” count to the stats that CCP will inevitably run as for any other reason. So I get it if anyone simply chooses not to finish because it isn’t worth the time, trouble, or change to the routine.
However, for someone who wants to finish and doesn’t mind doing the extra hoops, I would recommend a mixture of do whatever relic sites you can find, mine Tyranite in the Tryanite sites you’ll find, buy some Filament and Emission blueprints and loop the Industry loop as much as you can:
Reddit: Reckoning Event Industry Loop
As an alternative to the Industry loop, or just to change pace, follow Ashterothi’s guide to the Drifter Wormhole Tourism loop:
And from time to time, you can also drop in any Combat site that shows and pick up some ‘visit site’ and ‘kill Drifters’ points, even if you won’t usually get the Battleship kill or drop. My Gnosis with something like 80 EHP/s passive shield tank and 400-ish HP/s missile/drone DPS (using target painters for application) was able to do the sites, so it doesn’t take a huge fit to do it.
It may be more trouble than it’s worth (for me it is), but it’s definitely possible to complete it without searching hundreds of systems for sites.
Blueprint / Filament / Emission names (search Contracts for BPCs, Market for finished items):
Filaments - Azdaja Redoubt, Conflux Eyrie, Liberated Barbican, Sanctified Vidette, Sentinel MZ
(Search Contracts, All, ‘filament’)
Emissions - Wideband/Midband/Narrowband Emission Amplifier Blueprint
Wideband/Midband/Narrowband Emission Limiter Blueprint
(Search contracts, All, ‘emission’)
Hope that helps anyone who’s hoping to grab the points needed to complete.
I can’t echo these sentiments enough. It was bad enough pulling all my assets out of Uedama (from Amarr) and running the ganking gauntlet when I relocated back (to Caldari) for the final time.
Hey, be nice. I already said I completed the event (3x) and did it by finding existing Tyranite mining sites (the only ones that appeared often enough). I just said it was a shame that I had to do it this way due to the complete and total lack of combat sites in my region. And just FYI, I did go out 20 or so jumps in various directions and the frequency of combat sites didn’t improve.
To reiterate: This isn’t laziness - it’s about not having an hour to dick around trying to find content when I’ve only got an hour to spend playing.
Unfortunately EVE isn’t like other games where instant gratification exists when it comes to events where other players are involved, so if you’re on a time crunch and you’re playing during peak hours you’re going to be out of luck, the hacking sites are a lot faster to do as you can zip around to find those in a frigate just using the agency window to look for systems with decent numbers of sigs in them, i assume you’re already doing the same for your combat sites
The whole “instant gratification” aspect really doesn’t appeal to me. I do what I do when time permits, and it’s fairly low-key.
I completed the event - it just wasn’t very fun (got all the rewards). Aside from the SKINR elements, PLEX and SP - it really wasn’t very memorable.
The fact that it sucked isn’t a dealbreaker - it’s just disapointing.
None of them are, atleast i don’t ever really remember nay of them, its a reward track to complete and then ignore while i spin ships in jita
Well some events have been OK, even recently for those who like the way the Winter events work, for instance.
However I much preferred the approx. 2016 style of events where almost everything came as random drops from combat sites and the sites where both widely available and doable in even Alpha ships. There was a lot more flying around, racing to sites, trying to score the kill, stealing of cargoes, etc.
As opposed to “grind out 1050 points on every character” which just kills all my interest before the event even starts.
