The annual celebration of New Eden’s most fearless pilots is underway with Capsuleer Day XXII, marking 22 years of player-driven chaos, camaraderie, and conquest in EVE Online. But this year’s festivities have been met with unexpected turbulence—not in combat zones, but in content scarcity.
From high-sec to null, players across the cluster are reporting the same issue: not enough event sites to go around. The event, which offers limited-time combat and hacking sites with unique rewards, has become a bottleneck of frustration rather than the usual explosion of activity.
Pilots eager to earn SKINs, boosters, and exclusive loot have found themselves circling systems, scanning endlessly, or being outpaced by faster, better-equipped players who sweep up sites moments after they spawn. For newer players or those in less populated ships, the situation is even worse—they simply can’t find or compete for sites in time.
In hubs like Jita and Dodixie, chatter is already buzzing with disappointment. Some corporations have begun organizing fleet sweeps or deploying scouts to find the rare sites before others, while others are simply logging off or avoiding the event altogether.
While scarcity has long been a theme in EVE Online’s evolving economy, players argue that event scarcity defeats the purpose of celebration. As one frustrated capsuleer put it: “It’s Capsuleer Day, not Capsuleer Queue Day.”
With nearly two weeks left in the event, it remains to be seen whether CCP Games will increase spawn rates or risk souring what should be a joyful anniversary. Until then, Capsuleer Day XXII may be remembered not for what was earned, but for what couldn’t be found.
Frankly i doubt even if there were more than one site in the 8 hours i was on yesterday( usually not on for longer than one/two hours) would i even give it another shot, i lost 16 drones on one site for zero reward, 26 scrap metal pieces and some blue print making trash. this is CCP all over, give nothing expect popularity.
The first week or two of the event is usually quite hectic. After the majority of players get their fill of it, the last two weeks you can pretty much do the sites at your leisure.
Where i am (on alt) i have no issues mining tyranite (lol) and hacking relic sites.
The only issue for me is combat anomalies. Tried one twice today, my 180-ish DPS with precision heavy missiles was not enough to kill even drifter frigate. Drones was eaten alive, like always with drifters. Thanks these rats don’t scram else i’d lost my Bellicose.
So the question for better pilots: is there any sane way for Alpha clone to do those?
And I can get me Omega. Having lots of plexes stored. But the question was about Alpha clone.
To add to my original question: checked high-sec site today. 2 frigates + 2 destroyers. Managed to kill one frigate and left the site for others. Too slow and i’m not sure i can finish destroyers before they cap out my ship.
Afaik the site is like a mini T2 Abyss without penalties or bonuses. So any T2 alpha abyss fit should do. Main concern is people coming and sniping the npcs it seems.
The sites aren’t even that scarce, people just don’t like to move away from the populated areas. Plenty of sites to be had. (I’m in Gallente space so not even that far from Jita).
