Secure hangers

the advise to learn the game before suggesting changes is good . your whole request is based on rumor some random posted on another forum . gl

Why do you assume it was a random person that said it?

Wise words. Not entirely sure if he is just a troll or a real newb trying to change a game he don’t even understand.

@Bakster_Kane
If you want a shared hangar, bring all your alts into your own corp. Of course that could reveal their relation to each other, but thats completely intentional. If you want to hide your chars, use contracts to shar stuff with them. Having more convenience options is a reward for joining a corporation. Things like shared standings, shared hangars, corpmails etc. are part of that.

If you really really want to share stuff with alts you can also drop a POS somewhere, give all the Alts the forcefield PW and just leave filled haulers under the FF where everyone has the skills to board them. Or if you can log in the alts soon after each other, jettison stuff under the FF and grab it with the Alt of your choice. But I believe thats also too much effort fo you, you probably want it directly in Jita, for zero costs at best, right?

:face_with_rolling_eyes:

@Gerard_Amatin how many POS forcefield passwords get brute forced? Is it a lot?

How many POS password input fields are available to me with all their contents while I’m docked in Jita?

Brute forcing passwords does not seem to be an issue

People who are concerned about a secure hangar being broken into by someone guessing the password probably dont realise the same thing can happen to their account and not just in EVE Online. Its practically a solved issue and not really a concern. Besides CCP does not have to guarantee the safety of a shared/secure hangar, or a POS for that matter.

Im actually curious what the TOS says about trying to brute force POS passwords

The other thing is that Gerad seems to support ganking of freighters for fun

But he is against a shared hangar that uses passwords because someone could break into it and steal the stuff.

This guy is clearly just insane

In a game about spaceship combat it’s not strange that I support spaceship combat against a particular type of ship like I support spaceship combat against all other types of ships.

I’m against a shared hangar because it’s a flawed suggestion, like I explained in many other posts in this thread.

Either you missed to see those arguments or you are pretending they’re not there, and then use your inability to read and comprehend to call me insane?

Shared hangers is not a flawed suggestion, and there is a big demand for it. You are just being ignorant or something.

I thought you left the forums?

It was so nice, peaceful and quiet around here for a while.

And no, it’s a terrible idea to have containers publicly available to everyone with access only to those with the password.

Imagine opening your inventory in Jita only to see millions of inaccessible containers of others. The lag and loss of QoL when you have to scroll through the endless list of containers to find your own.

No thanks.

You should be able to pin items and containers in the UI so they are sorted first and also don’t get moved.

Shared hangers would be huge.

Huge as in ā€˜lag inducing’ big lists of irrelevant containers that you don’t have the password for anyway.

If it take longer than expected to load the list of shared hangars when you open it that seems like a small price to pay to finally have shared hangars. But i doubt it will.

I’d love ACL hangars but there’s 0 reason to make them all visible to everyone especially if they can just start guessing passwords and potentially steal my ā– ā– ā– ā– .

Apparantly ACL hangers is not a good solution because every time someone docks the game has to check which hangers the character can access. That is apparantly a lot of server load.

The idea i put forward avoids the lag by only loading shared hangers if people go to the shared hangar tab. And its a simple load because it only shows the amount of hangers and their names, it doesent check access rights until you put in a password.

There is probably a better way of doing it. For example you ā€œAdd shared hangerā€ and put in its ID and password. Once added its displayed and usable like any other container in the inventory.

No. We simply dont need this.

Shared hangars are one of the most frequently requested features afaik
