Separate Space for Newbies?

Its not so much the ships, but its an easy way to repair faction standings without going through the soe arc

I’m guessing there will be arena type, planned, and no loss PVP. A controlled, teaching environment. But we won’t know for a while. I really do doubt there will be ganking style PCP though. We’ll see.

As ive mentioned earlier here, i do think there should be a ganking tutorial that at the least teaches the perspective and mechanics behind it. If someone can see both sides of a mechanic in the game then that will in turn make them a better player. It doesnt have to be a pvp gank per say, but it needs to be covered….by means that are obviously unknown at this time. It would really eliminate half these foolish threads that have been made in the last month or so.

Well, as youve mentioned….mechanics.

The isk isnt that much of a game changer…except the fact that the vet can buy as many ships as he wants at any given time. Perhaps new avatars made would be cut off from the main thus cutting the isk train completely. I personally hope this is the case. Learn to work from completely nothing.

Yes, knowledge is quite another big aspect. That is the game changer…i would agree. However, i would predict that many new players would adapt ( or i hope they would ) rather quickly after getting blown up a few times. Again, this would give the newbros much needed training to enter new eden and quickly close that knowledge gap.

May is such a long way off, isnt it.

That’s my playground!

That is just like it is today with the defined starter systems then…the problem will be how this area connects to New Eden.

If you can produce and grind away there in safety and transfer it outside and back again, then it badly influences the economy, devalueing all isk and PLEX we all have already earned.
And if you have to make a decision to leave your wealth in the newbie area when entering the real world…as if it was just a dream…then the new players will be not amused and rightout questioning if they should quit the game i guess…

What they could do is using that space as “virtual environment”. Means when creating a Character, you “wake up” in a Matrix-like environment after being “upgraded” from a normal human to a capsuleer.
Aura is greeting and you begin your journey just in a simulation. Fitting Ships, flying around, Combat, Mining, Scanning, Production etc… all explained virtually.

And once you end your AIR program you can decide to stay in the simulation for a while to train the stuff. Or you can decide to “wake up” and begin in the “real space”.

  • As long as you stay in the Simulation you can only access those fixed amount of systems (although I don’t know why it has to be 53 of them, but if you seprarate the New Chars by Empire, that could be an okayish number. 10 Training Systems per Empire plus a dozen for FW/Wormhole, Pochven Traning as shared area…). And everything you earn and make there is totally virtual, gets deleted once you decide to exit the simulation.
  • If you decide to end the simulation, you start with a pre-defined “starter package” in ships and ISK in the real universe and your real journey begins.

Yeah, like a safe zone with no PvP is really gonna prepare noobs for the real EVE. I suspect such a thing would have the reverse effect, and after 30 days have noobs thinking EVE is all safe and no risks. That is what 30 days in a ‘safe zone’ will do.

Well, if that is the setup then I suspect CCP will try it for a few months and then realise in horror that throwing noobs in at the deep end was always the better option.

I am actually hoping that it is a newbie only zone with full pvp outside of the spawn system.

Each of the 4 empires has 7 systems, then there’s a dozen or so Concord systems and a few others on top of that. So the 53 systems are not all in one place….it would seem there’s a set number assigned for each empire.

When I started EVE, noobs were assigned 5K ISK or some really low amount. I’d increase that to 50m ISK. I think that would be more helpful than new systems.

I would argue on this point, that long travel is a fundamental aspect of this game. There are many opportunities for learning, through long travel. For example, what if some of those 53 systems have npc gate camps or bubbles?

This would make for an excellent opportunity for newer players to learn how not to die to every single gate camp or bubble trap they might encounter in their eve life.

Ive said this so many times in a handful of these threads. The lack of proper training in ALL aspects of eve will be…in my opinion…detrimental in all reqards.

All i can say is if this plan goes through to keep these folks in a endless safe haven until they think theyre ready……then @Aiko_Danuja is going to have a very full backed up courtroom doctrine of angry people. I will be there as a witness to this glorious fiasco.

I just hope i have enough flowers to pass out for all the losses.

Based in the layout and coloring of the map that was shown, I’m thinking that the central area has a low-sec zone where you’ll get to shoot at players of the opposing faction. A mini FW arena, basically.

the so called “Newbie Area” is just a desperade fight against symptomes and in the end, it doesnt change anything to the core of the Problem.

Just remove Clone Soldier Tags, and the yolo Ganking, which costs EvE more Players and Abos then anything else, will literally stop over Night.

Do it, and watch Player Count triple.

When ganking stops, new players no longer matter because the game will die without the necessary destruction that ganking provides, in EVE destruction is high demain for keeping this game healthy.

Source?

Utter nonsense. CCPs own stats show that only 1% of noobs get ganked in the first 2 weeks.

Yet in that same time period….90% of noobs leave….

Now if 90% of noobs leave in the first 2 weeks and only 1% of those noobs were ganked in the first 2 weeks…..that means that 89% of noobs left for reasons other than ganking.

This is CCPs own data…..not the BS stuff you guys invent.
