See, I don’t feel that it’s a predatory marketing strategy.
How is forcing players to pay to do what ccp themselves claimed was work deserving of compensation, not predatory?
It can cost $240 to get a small corp to all have custom corp skins for a single frigate that they put the work in to design. At least explain how that’s a good thing. Even star citizen wouldn’t be that greedy.
You need a designer/brand manager. Someone who’s already invested in all the design elements needed, has all the requisite skills trained and can offer you SKINs in ISK as opposed to PLEX.
Let’s leave Star Citizen out of this - that company is entirely vaporware.
Even if you have all of that, it doesn’t change the fact that it still costs hundreds of dollars for 1 corp wide skin on 1 frigate.
You’d have to give me a few more details here, ie: how many corp members (?) x frigate hull (?), as well as how cost effective or intricate you want the design. Patterns bump up the price (per pattern) and some of the more exotic colors also cost more to sequence.
I don’t think it’s quite as expensive as you think, but if you can provide a bit more info I’ll check it out for you.
That’s why i said can cost.
T1 frigate all slots fild 60 plex each. Small corp so around 100 players = 6000 plex iirc the simplest design on at1 frig is still 10 plex per so 1000 plex just shy of 50usd
Which specific frigate hull? Are you on Discord at all?
I think the one i looked at was kestrel and yes
10 PLEX isn’t necessarily bad. That’s, what - 60m ISK or so per player? Message me in-game (I’ll send you my Discord handle).
How much isk the plex cost doesn’t change how much real money it costs. Its why what could have been an amazing system that lead to nearly any group happily flying uniform ships turned into a rather niche vanity system used by those with more money than things to spend it on.
and sent
Exactly! I couldn’t believe they are charging us PLEX or anything AT ALL for something that we create!
Well, don’t you think that someone at CCP should have gotten them up to speed with what was intended when they were not around and how that is to be implemented today? That’s not a good excuse.
Isn’t the paid subscription enough, which justifies access to new created content including SKINR, that they demand more?
I honestly can’t belive how many people have been letting ccp run a freemium model in a subscript game and defending it
Thanks, that sounds promising.
What I know, what I think and what I speculate about are entirely different things. I’m just trying to pass along some helpful information of what may or may not be in the pipe for SKINR. If that benefits you - great. If not - sorry, you’re directing your complaints to the wrong area.
I have a couple more requests, one actually, that is: more supported ships!
I’d love to be able to create SKINs for:
- the Capsule
- Tech III Destroyers: Confessor, Jackdaw, Hecate and Svipul
- Tech II Cruisers: Legion, Tengu, Proteus and Loki
- the CONCORD Assembly ships: Council Diplomatic Shuttle, Pacifier, Enforcer, Monitor, Marshal
- the Leopard, Goru’s Shuttle, Guristas Shuttle
- the Primae, Echelon. Zephyr
- and the Victorieux Luxury Yacht would be hilarious to skin
I know there’s probably a lot of ships I missed but let’s not get too excited. Thanks for your consideration.
• Capsules, shuttles and some of the less-utilized ships are probably going to remain a CCP-only thing. Probably the same thing for the yacht as well.
• T3 destroyers/cruisers have been requested - but there are some inherent issues there with getting them to work (there is the odd issue even with CCP-released SKINs for T3s).
• CONCORD ships have been requested (no idea where in the queue it might be).
This is just going off memory from SKINR discussions on Discord going back ~6 months.
when you are speculating about something you are not passing any useful information!
What exactly am I speculating about?
