Ramona, I don’t know what ghost you’re talking to
In my mental model, hauling is an act that helps trade hubs “project” the power of their market a geographic distance incurring a “gradient” of increased cost of goods the further you get from the market hub. The safer the hauling route, the further the market hub’s influence at nominal prices.
This is why I wish high sec would be more dangerous: hubs would have their influence geographically stunted, local producers would have better local opportunities, local consumers would be incentivized to buy locally, local faces and people therefore matter more, and smaller communities could thrive, giving space for players of various skill levels in various career paths – some violent, some not-so-violent. That happens to be newbie-friendly and ecosystem-vibrant!
But that requires increased danger, perhaps counterintuitively!
When everything is safe, everyone is competing against everyone else in the universe at Jita, and “being a local producer” is just being a sub-optimal player who isn’t enough of a min-max grindbear to try to be a mega-monopolist capturing the whole New Eden Market. No diversity. Surprise, that tends to not be a newbie-friendly outcome, so it’s no wonder I view “safe high sec” arguments as being “let the rich bittervets get richer” and any vet who co-opts the “think of the newbies” mantra is just conning the newbies like the tax-harvesting corps.
Totally agree.
Sorry I was having a fugue before. Best ignore it.
Spot on, sir. Market control, even partially, is the hidden blue donut in this game.
So ganking isn’t a problem.
Got it
True story
Of course not all players in EVE are here for combat!
They are here for combat, WHETHER THEY WANT TO, OR NOT!!!1
And that’s the beauty of it!
Very true!
Are you kidding me? Null sec is farmville space
So its too safe? Isn’t that what you want LOL.
null sec is uber farmvile
there is some great pilots there OFC
but most are risk aversed, whiny, craby, billionaire , f1 monkeys
typical null sec fit is blinged and don’t even have a scram
those guys don’t know even how to keep at range
thats why they have to fit 100km +++ range doctrines because they are BAAAAAD
null sec players think 25km is brawling range
null sec players take 2 hours to form a 50 man fleet to kill a navy omen
null sec people dock in mass wen a t1 ship is 5 jumps away on intel
null sec people don’t play for days because "now is bad , there is a lot of pirates "
null sec people refuse to join friends chat channel because they are being spied by the boss
null sec people join coms to see if they are gong to log in
null sec people think making 120 million a hour is a disgrace and CCP killed their gameplay
null sec people have a LOT of killmails with 0 damage
This is also the beauty of null sec group’s, no where else can you fight 10 v 100 and hold ground and its mostly because of piloting errors and reliance on someone else to do the thinking for them.
Null dude: “I’m not in range to hit, O it does not matter I have more friends than I have enemies let me just whore on the km.”
Low Dude: “I’m not in range let me break formation and get closer if I don’t pull my own weight we all ■■■■■■.”
Haha exactly.
Im gonna put a curse on all gankers…
To anyone who shoots a lowly miner in a hauling boat, may their dick fall off in three days from today…
Kiszáradjon a farkad, mint a mazsola, ha lelősz egy bányászt… PU!!! PU!!! PU!!!
Now im off to sacrifice a chicken and make sure its roasted well so that we can seal the curse… Need some potatoes too… and a salaad as well…
Well Aiko is safe from your curse
Also imagine taking a vidya game this serious, esp one that is an open PvP world ROFL.
Why?
The attacker is using the resources of the game to attack a ship of another player who consented to pvp by undocking. (doesn’t matter what you believe, that is the reality of EVE, noone hides this, it’s not a secret. It’s in the manual.)
It doesn’t matter if they are new or old with some exceptions for griefing in newbie systems) a pilot on thief way to Jita crossing Uedama is fair game.
(for a common example)
The player who lost the Badger can learn from the experience and take better precautions (scout ahead, check stats on the map Check the free live video feeds of known camps. Join Gank Intel Channel don’t autopilot etc). You do have options, you might not be aware of those options but there’s plenty of info out there if you want to learn.
This might sound laughable but role play… Play like your life and livlilhood depend on it, play like you are in ruthless dystopian universe, that you have valuable stuff and people are going to take it for fun and or profit, because you are.
The problem is that some players forget this and want to apply real world morals (accusations of victim blaming) to a spaceship themed MURDER SIMULATOR with an economy and activities built to support said murdering. ( that they voluntarily signed up to play, I might add)
What do you think you signed up for, Endless Sky?
If you think this game is something else you are mistaken. Yes it has other cool stuff to do and is complex and engaging but it’s core game play is about blowing stuff up; your stuff, their stuff and even my stuff.
You’ll need a lot more than one of them if you want to put them on “all gankers
”.
Well played good sir, well played /golfclap
How will you know if that works? They will not likely post again for a long time, they will be angry and want a chicken of their own and is it really worth you eternal soul for a pixel game?
The sand box has been contaminated for sure. We should all gank and gank and learn how to gank until only gankers and the builders we hide can provide us hulls. Its a Sand Box learn and adapt just don’t sit there and hide in your hole.
Are you saying this is Hell? Thought there would be a warning of some kind
