While this is true, HS is an exception. CCP will fix this oversight in their policy…
Highsec has never been an exception before. Why do you think it is now?
Dryson Bennington Kills:
security zone | kills | percent of kills |
---|---|---|
Highsec | 17 | 40% |
Lowsec | 24 | 56% |
Nullsec | 1 | 2% |
JSpace | 1 | 2% |
Very toxic of you there Dryson, especially so for those highsec kills.
In the Days of Old.
I was there, were you?
How so? Its part of the game my guy.
I mean if they don’t got trig standings yennoe?
Nah but you just made an assumption bro. But you don’t really play EVE so
Nope. Its called EVE bruv. Learn how to do it
It isn’t tho. Its working as intended
I was? You could still blap people back then too LOL.
I started playing EvE in 2004. My friends had moved from a red EQ server to Shadobane. We quickly fell in love with Shadowbane, but the bugs made large scale battles horrible. We moved to EvE afterwards, as it was very stable, and had the gameplay of Shadowbane.
It feels like you are dodging the question.
You just evoked some memories for me there LOL.
Au contraire!!!
I started my Eve Addiction on May 10, 2003. High-security space was just that in the beginning. Everyone knew it. To say otherwise is nonsense.
2004 was a long time ago for me, but people were highsec ganking ships in Thrashers in 2004/2005. I can’t speak to 2003, but if there were no high sec gankers, it is likely that the notion of suicide ganking for profit had not been thought of yet, like kiting in EQ at the beginning.
Since we agree that for the vast majority of the game suicide ganking has been going on, we are back to my question. Why should high sec be an exception now?
It was meant to be “High Security”. CCP has caved to the small group of loud crybabies for too long. They understand their mistake and are going to set things right. You’ll still be able to shoot people in the vastness of LS and Null.
Oh no, people knew about kiting from UO. As they left for EQ, they brought that tactic there heh.
Huh. It almost sounds like you’re saying your interpretation, not CCPs. Interesting
Considering reality doesn’t match what you’re saying, I’m gonna go with you’re wrong
Can you show me where in the EULA, game box, or early documentation of the game there is something that CCP released saying that high sec was meant to be combat free, they just forgot to code it that way?
The way I remember the early game, you could always shoot someone in highsec, its just that you paid the price for doing so.
Haha, I never played UO. I learn something new everyday. Thanks Firebrand.
Yep. People found out it was a way to PK without PKing and thus avoiding murder counts.
So you see, people have been finding unique ways to kill each other in vidya games for a very long time haha.
Hell, people still do it to peeps in the newb dungeon in Outlands right now LOL.
Exactly!. It was indeed coded to be combat free… for the wise by nature and the resourceful jackass, of course.
The issue resides on the false, and also coded as is, sense of security. A mirage players love to take for granted under the same presumption, but in the hands of “papa umbrella” in the shape of Concord, etc.
Some say hulls should never be able to insta-pop, that there must be time enough for reaction… which would allow Concorde to take a step back and make things interesting for both outlaws and righteous, or those who think they fit under such categories. Then perhaps, this again “mirage” that mentally separates sec stats will no longer be.
Maybe it’s not on any book or written on stone.. but just consider it as “Rules of Acquisition”, perhaps.
Wut.
Why?
Since you obviously know everything, why did CCP change it where you couldn’t one-shot wrecks to deny a ganker the loot?
I meant in high sec, sry. I don’t know… to prolong the grief? or batfon santa?.. it’s just a way of extending the pilot’s ability to respond in case Concord-e wouldn’t show.. but that would be another set of mechanics. Just speculation.
It makes no difference, really, a pop is a pop, wether it takes a fraction or 10. More time just opens a window for possibilities.
OP speaks about toxic behavior. I agree there is not such… what I think we have is lack of options for whatever reason. My opinion is that game mechanics somehow lean towards being instrument for toxic behavior but only to the “victim’s” eyes, of course. So those victims see themselves as entitled to ways of get back.. and it deserves some looking into. It would lead to interesting scenarios if coded adequately.
Peeps take high sec the wrong way until they learn by pain, suffered or inflicted. It was sarcastically brought EULA not mentioning high sec being combat free. Several mechanics envolving ganking and whatever happens afterwards can be considered immoral, toxic, etc. People seem to forget ganking is fundamental in EVE.
I can only speculate on the reason behind wrecks having HP or not. All I can say, is that you can explore the mechanics behind the whole deal and fly accordingly. Keep in mind you could be flying a crystal cannon, a loaded sitting duck, or a correctly fitted hull for whatever purpose. But then again, sometimes being alone is not an option.
Here is an extract from back in 2016 Patch Notes:
About wrecks HP rebalancing:
“This is incredibly great news for highsec gankers. A common problem during highsec ganking are players called White Knights’ — people who wait for suicide gankers to destroy a ship, and who then proceed to shoot the wreck to keep the gankers from taking the loot. Now that freighter wrecks have 15,000 HP, what will the wreck killers do? It is also good to hear that capital wrecks will survive accidental fire from trigger happy fleet members.”
So, you see what I mean when I say how important ganking is for the game? CCP even took care of the loot derived from it! I still don’t get why peeps keep futilely questioning it.
But it’s undeniable that it generates discomfort, especially when you wrongly think you shouldn’t die just cuz being in high sec. BTW, loot is a prize IMO. no matter how it’s gained, who ever grabs it by any means, even if it’s oportunistic, your strategy must cover that too especially while hauling, in which case, youŕe supposed to be attacked. When CCP asks “What will wreck killers do?” is an invitation to explore possibilities, not a flat denial.
We had to wait for Fansy the Famous Bard to bring the good stuff.
I suspect EVE didn’t wait very long for it’s first trolls to evolve either.
