Skiff Ungankable?

I think you missed the part where the other graph with the Orca + barges overtook the Orca fleet as an efficient multibox mining fleet. And the scaling of that fleet is much lower due to the extra effort necessary.

I did not. It’s irrelevant to the scaling.

You claim that your goal is to reduce the scalability of the orcas. Reducing it even to 0 won’t change that scalability. Actually it’s the opposite, reducing the yield of the orcas will increase their scalability : if you halve the orcas yield, you make them scale twice as much (that’s incorrect but it gives you the idea)

Are you assuming I hate Orcas because I’m a ganker? Or did I understand this wrong?

To be fair this seems entirely reasonable to me. Multiboxers using multiple Orcas is a bit too favourable to miners, and I write this as a miner.

For a RL person to be able to fly one Orca and some barges seems to me the fair way to go.

:mouse:

I give up.

Of all the people on this forum I would expect you to see how the maximum of two linear functions that cross eachother is not linear itself.

that’s irrelevant to the scaling.

cf the article I linked. Read it, you are misusing the term of “scaling”.

Already the case. Also the best unless you fly a lot of ships (and therefore need orcas rather than barges)

My definition of scaling in this context is ‘put in twice as much effort, get twice as much ore’.

What’s yours?

That’s a definition of a linear scaling.

Now if you have a yield of 0, you put twice as many efforts and you have a yield of 0, that is twice 0. so the scaling is still linear.

Not necessarily. I did state clearly …

Genuinely I don’t know you well enough to have a view as to what you believe either way.

Based on your billboard ‘scores’ (73% Dangerous/27% Snuggly) it looks like you might be a ganker but in truth whether you’re part of this community is only something you can answer.

:mouse:

Did you miss the part where there are two lines crossing and the barges require more effort/ore?

I wrote already that it is irrelevant to the scaling. The scaling is still linear, so your claim it changes the scaling is wrong. Even worse, if you halve the yield, the fleet actually scales twice as much basically.
Therefore, my guess is that you are misusing the term scaling.

Ah, I see you’re new! My zkillboard shows some PvP kills (and deaths) indeed, but if you look closely pretty much none of them are in high sec (0.5+) systems, which means this character is not a ganker. But I may have alts!
(But no, I haven’t tried ganking yet, it’s still something I’d like to try though.)

To be fair I was mostly looking at the 73% Dangerous/27% Snuggly ratio, because as there are 12 pages of kill data I hadn’t checked the type and location of the kills.

I apologise if any offence was caused (none was intended).

For what it’s worth I don’t actually see gankers as evil necessarily, mostly because of my view of EVE as an ecosystem. Gankers are as much part of the fauna of space as are miners, explorers, industrialists and so on. It’s really about balance.

Having said all this, some gankers are truly sociopathic and evil but to be entirely truthful I have met some who are pretty decent people too, and I hate 'bots as much as them.

Scaling has an upper limit of how much effort you can put into it. You won’t be able to multibox as many barges as you can multibox Orcas.

Yes, the orcas scale better than the barges. So what ? it will still scale better if you divide the yield by X, whatever that X is. Actually it will scale X times as much, so you increase the scaling by reducing the yield.

I would take away mining capability from orca gladly if it earns compression xD

I guess that’s a bit too powerful. :stuck_out_tongue:

Not even the Rorqual has compression by default, only when they take more risk by going in siege mode.

Let me dream xD
