Skill Training

First thing: Omega does not train at double speed, that is standard CCP Marketing misleadings. Omega train at normal speed (how it was before Eve’s fall to F2P level), and Alpha trains at half speed.

SP/min = Skill Points Per Minute from attributes (=when you use your skill queue to train skills).
Primary = the skills primary attribute.
Secondary = the skills secondary attribute.

SP/min = Primary + Secondary/2 {Alpha: 0.5 * (Primary + Secondary/2}.

Minimum attributes: 17, 17.
Unmapped attributes ignoring Charisma: 20, 20.
Maximum attributes w/o Cerebral: 32, 26.
Maximum attributes w Cerebral: 44, 38.

There is a trivial 0 SP/month floor for people who forget to start a skill or a capped Alpha. Minimum below refers to minimum attributes, with alpha in {} after Omega.

Month is always 30 days, matching payment durations in Eve.

Minimum SP/month: (17+17/2) * 60 * 24 * 30 = 1,101,600 {550,800}.
Unmapped SP/month: (20 + 20/2) * 60 * 24 * 30 = 1,296,000 {648,000}.
Maximum SP/month w/o Cerebral: (32 + 26/2) * 60 * 24 * 30 = 1,944,000 {972,000}.
Maximum SP/month w Cerebral: (44 + 38/2) * 60 * 24 * 30 = 2,721,600 {1,360,800}.

An uncapped alpha buying 1 month Omega, gets a 100% boost to their trained SP, which as seen above can vary by 810,000 SP. Dependent on remap, what skills are trained over the 30 days, implants and cerebrals used.

A soft capped Alpha (5 mill SP but still having alpha skills available to train) buying 1 month of Omega can get another 1,101,600 to 2,721,600 SP.

An Omega understanding their attributes gives them SP, can increase SP/month by 1,425,600 (more if not ignoring Charisma).

Omega still trains at double the speed of an Alpha account, no matter how you put it.

In other words,
“Nooo, Omega does not train faster than Alpha, Alpha trains slower than Omega!!”

What even is the purpose of this thread?

Besides the nonsensical opening paragraph the rest of this information dump can be found on the eve uni wiki, which I assume is where you found it.

Agreed. The advertising around this could be considered misleading, if not downright dishonest. Hoping the upcoming changes in EU digital markets fixes this.

Which existed first, alpha accounts or omega accounts? Its like saying a footlong subway is twice as big as a six inch, ignoring the fact a six inch is simply a regular sub cut in half. Or do subway in other parts of the world bake 6 inch loaves?

Its not about information sharing, its a discussion about potentially deceptive advertising.

Its typical CCP though right? They cranked up the gas/ice production on skyhooks x3, but then increased the consumption of metenox to be twice as much.

Edit, since the thread is locked sigh

Incorrect, at some point an Alpha will hit the SP cap and then they will train at 0 speed, at which point an Omega is no longer 2x the speed but infinity more speed.

Is this the fingers in ears or the head in sand strat?

Pot, meet kettle.

But its not 2x the training speed of an Alpha at the 5 million SP cap, which is what the majority of the trolls in this thread are conveniently ignoring and by you closing this thread are enabling them to shut down debate.

But when Omega was released, people didn’t start train at x2 speed.

To teach you trolls how skill training works.

And if you actualyl bothered reading the OP, you would see why Omega is not x2 speed. You troll off context only comparing to Alpha and not to what the OP states.

They trained at regular Omega speed, which because Alpha speed is half the Omega training speed is twice the speed of Alpha training.

Both statements 'Omega trains twice as fast as Alpha’ and ‘Alpha trains half as fast as Omega’ are true and both of them can be informative depending on your frame of reference.

As this ‘train twice as fast’ advertisement is aimed at players who currently are Alpha it makes sense to use their frame of reference, which is to say that these Alpha players can double their current training speed by going Omega.

You’re quick to call people trolls when you make a thread that essentially argues ‘the glass is half empty and anyone who disagrees with me is a troll’.

Yep, I specifically remember them claiming the ‘ONLY DIFFERENCE’ between alpha and omega was the training speed, then they cut alphas off from all the content.

OMG ! And all this time I’ve bought a pint of beer not realising it was exactly the same amount as two half pints. If only Einstein had had this realisation then we’d have a theory of everything by now. Thank you for totally re-writing the entire laws of maths and physics since Plato…I look forward to attending your Nobel Prize ceremony.

Omega came first. There was a time when there were no free accounts. 100% sub accounts only.

How many posts are you going for today before you actually read the OP?

What is your point in making this post?

SP Formula 2011: The formula is: [Primary Skill + (Secondary Skill / 2)] x 60 = SP/h source Reddit - The heart of the internet

Release of Omega 2016. From the announcement post “Alphas will also train skills at a reduced rate compared to Omegas.” https://www.eveonline.com/news/view/introducing-clone-states-and-the-future-of-access-to-eve-online

If Omega was x2 speed these numbers would be:

Minimum SP/month: 2 * (17+17/2) * 60 * 24 * 30 = 2,203,200 {1,101,600}.
Unmapped SP/month: 2 * (20 + 20/2) * 60 * 24 * 30 = 2,592,000 {1,296,000}.
Maximum SP/month w/o Cerebral: 2 * (32 + 26/2) * 60 * 24 * 30 = 3,888,000 {1,944,000}.
Maximum SP/month w Cerebral: 2 * (44 + 38/2) * 60 * 24 * 30 = 5,443,200 {2,721,600}.

Why do you ask?

Those numbers are the base Omega speed.

Omega is not twice Omega speed. Omega is twice Alpha speed.

No these numbers are the facts from 5 years before Omega.

Which is nowadays base Omega speed.

Because Omega = 1x old.
