Ok this Event is a joke….in combination with the stupid Blackout it is only a try to Scratch the statistic.
I’ve got the same bug as many others, completed mission but not receiving the skill points/
Why’s it gotta be black?
Gotta sell those extractors somehow eh CCP?
Just give us local back in null…stop bribing us.
I’m inclined to believe CCP Falcon once played Eve - must be kind of ironic being asked to make community announcements like this that a) go against the entire principles the original game and ethos were built on, and b) the core fundamentals that used to underpin the eve community spirit and what made the game stand out given Eve never used to be a candy floss theme park - but it is now. @CCP_Falcon genuinely hope you’re excited and enthusiastic by the direction the game has gone circa last 3 years - I genuinely feel for you having to make “community announcements” like this.
OK…
i logged in…
WHAT I NEED TO DO???
Get off your pedestal you silly monkey.
The game needs new players. The things they’re designing allow new players significant step change - 650K of skill points for an old player like you is nothing, you might add a couple of specializations or you might get another ship
650K for a newcomer means a whole new ship fit that they can entertain. Eve will die if it doesn’t refresh its playerbase.
Stop pretending you can tell a gaming company with one of the longest running MMOs how to suck eggs. You’re probably a failure in the real world.
If a player logs in even briefly, something else (on average, across the player base) might happen. This is INTENTIONALLY a minimal activity. “Well, I logged in, may as well do XYZ.” We are rats in the maze, and a little cheese has just been provided.
.
CCP tried this last in 2016, and perhaps enough time has passed that it’s worth gathering new data. Will more players log in because of this event, or - not bother, if they hadn’t planned to log in for some other important reason. In 2016, the event was even more minimal - the first NPC shot would reward 10,000 sp each day. So, props for the enhancement, but as I wrote in reply above, its intentionally minimal. But I still feel “manipulated”, a rat in the maze. I don’t LIKE feeling manipulated. CCP has created complex limited-time events with a variety of tasks and rewards. Those are far more interesting and engaging - bring back “real” Events!
.
That was one complaint about the last experiment, when it was only 10k SP … “CCP is requiring me to log in every day, or fall behind.”
You’re right of course that players don’t lose any SP by not logging in. If they were to actually subtract SP from players for not logging in - oh my, I can hear the screaming in my head. The forum server would melt down.
.
Authored events with varied activities and varied rewards, with a story basis using game lore - Seasonal events such as the Crimson Harvest - are far more engaging for me personally than “log in, shoot 1 NPC for 10,000 sp.” But it’s hard to maintain the energy to complain bitterly, when I realize “daily quests” are common to other MMOs. But at the same time CCP likes to point out that “EVE players are different” - they are a smart, devious bunch. Some them practice persuasion and psychology on a high level, to build up or take down Corporations and Alliances: “I manipulate others - don’t you try to manipulate me!”
I will spare CCP Falcon from replying with irritation at some of our irritation, by quoting him from a related subject on Reddit :
Whether you like it or not, the games industry is changing and EVE needs to change with it. That’s just the reality of things.
The intention isn’t to break down the core pillars of what make EVE the game it is, but at the same time if we can ease the path for new players to get into the game and have fun, then we’ll look at doing so - even at the risk of rustling the jimmies of some of our existing players along the way.
I’ll be direct and say that this is of course my own opinion and not the opinion of CCP, but personally I’m getting tired of people freaking out every time we try something that might help with new player retention or give them an easier path to get into the game and stay.
There are of course some valid concerns, and my job is to listen to what people are talking about, but once I’m done listening, it’s getting to the point where I just roll my eyes at a lot of the REEEEEE that happens when we talk about changes and the same groups of people start screeching about “pay to win” and “muh sandbox”.
I’ll hold my hands up and say I’m guilty of that myself - I try to do as much as I can to make sure that EVE stays true to its roots, but we’ve been super direct with our new player retention numbers, with our second logon numbers, our 30 day retention numbers too - we even showed these off at EVE North and a few other events to talk about the unique issues that EVE faces with retaining rookies.
Bingo.
They need more players to come into the game, they have a framework that is potentially very good and a differentiated gaming option and they know they’ve got a very small share of playerbase.
Those on the spectrum that play this game and think they’re entitled to it only being the way they want it, biomass your account and move on. I’d only imagine over the next couple of years that we see a lot more things that target breaking down those that carry 10-15 alts and barely undock.
This whole “YOU CANT TAKE OUR LOCAL!” movement is hilarious, you pride yourself on Eve being a dangerous hard game that you think you’ve mastered, but you can’t even use D-Scan or basic common sense/instincts.
Yep, it’s a little uneven in the randomness. Yep, so is life.
Thank you for the SP. I’m a vet and still appreciate ANY time I can get a boost in SP. And this is very easy to claim, even with multiple accounts.
I’m having more fun in EVE than ever, and I’m not being sarcastic.
Abyssals, Triglavian invasion, moon mining, Upwell structures, graphics upgrades, Agency overhaul, ship remodeling, ship rebalancing, boosting overhaul, null blackout… just a few of the things over the last few years that have made EVE better.
People just want to bitch, all. The. Time.
Thanks Falcon, thanks CCP, I’m here til the day the server shuts down
How about you think like this:
Simply play as regular as you usually do, just by easily gaining bonuses of extra SP for next 4 weeks. Isn’t it awesome?!
And don’t forget the extra extra SP CCP has given us during the Skill Point Week last week . Also not to forget to mention the extra SP and various stuff few weeks ago. And what about the other free SP and stuff events before that which had also happened this year.
Especially for newcomers and even for veterans, the Season of Skills Event rocks in total. Don’t see it like there are single events in a row ongoing, but as a huge event with various steps in where we are gaining a mass of free SP for FREE.
Same Issue.
way to go ccp trying to get us to go back to ratting in null you want us to go ratting in null give us our damn local back this is such a trash way to get people to login who dont like ratting because everyone has stopped ratting in null. I alone went from playing 14 hours a day on your stupid game to 2 hours a day because of this trash black out crap. Because it is to easy for hunters now to find targets because you dont know who the hell is in your system they could be cloaked next to you and you wont even know it. Screw your trash free sp crap and just give us our damn local back ty.
Piss off you carebear. You’re the cancer of the game.
LET ME RAT WITHOUT ANY RISK WHAT SO EVER! OTHERWISE I WON’T!.
Looking forward to partaking in this thanks EVE
incorrect.
incorrect.
incorrect.
here’s an idea, work with ya mates and create a secure area to rat and mine in. like the feckin rest of us!
logging off cuz, is what it is, an excuse!
on topic, rewards could be better, not a fan of RNG, sp reward should have been related to ship sizes killed. undock warp to belt kill random NPC is not taxing in anyway shape or form. should have been 50k sp to kill a frig to cruiser, 150k sp for a BC and 250k sp for a BS and cap it at that per DT, 450k sp per DT for the time of the event running. but meh, we got what we got.
enjoying the extra sp, thanks CCP o7
I have not received any yet, but I imagine it will come one of three waysL
1st: “the daily log in campaign” its the square with in a square icon
2nd: “redeemed items” its the gift wrapped present,
3rd or right in your “character sheet” with in the “skills” tab in the bottom let “injector”
i Couldnt’ imagine anywhere else it will pop
Good luck and happy sKILL hunting
Will all of the events be at the same time? because it starts at 6am my time and several of my corp members and I just don’t see that as very doable. while I am a lover of eve, i don’t see my self waking up early before work to hunt for skill points. so maybe have two or 4 different hours to do it in.
