Small Class Upwell Structures to help small Corps

So a decay timer should be in order maybe a 5 day decay timer.

POSes don’t get fighters, clone bays, or docling… Soo yea… lol up well structures are specialized buildings that fill roles. The gap I’m making a point about is a single multi role structure that anyone can use like a POS for almost any reason. It wouldn’t be great at it but it would be a starting point for people.

Just to add for clarity I’m sure there would be 3 specialized small class upwell structures. Industral complex, refinery, and citadel(FOB) that’s why I named the topic

Yeah i don’t think they are going to do that, the smallest structure will be the FOB and thats about it, they don’t want a smaller structure because a smaller one that an astra really doesn’t serve any purpose and would end up being too weak to do anything, like i’ve said POS were too cheap, if you’re putting up structures they need to be actual structures and not just little crappy sticks with bubbles, we’ve already seen the structure roadmap and the only thing left to be added is the small “day tripping” structure, which is the FOB, won’t be permanent and won’t be of much use for production and won’t be dockable

G-d no. Structures are part of the cancer eating at the game. They are spammed everywhere because they are already so cheap as to be disposable. They are unfun, time consuming grinds to kill that drop nothing. The game does not need even more unfun mechanics inserted into it. And looking at all of the spammed abandoned structures littering systems, I dont think there are many small corps crying that they cant defend their property.

So instead of fixing that problem and giving people a cheaper less defended option that’s easier to kill you would rather keep the big Grindy structures that your saying are cancer???

Yes because cheaper would mean that they would be flooded all over the place. Also if they maintain the same sort of asset safety system there will be no point in shooting them. As it is, when you kill a structure, 9 times out of ten it is undefended. You get next to nothing from the kill, and the owner of the structure just throws up a new one as soon as you leave system. Structures are so cheap now that they are viewed as disposable. The game doesnt need even cheaper structures that will just be littered all over the place.

You would need at least two things to happen to make this idea viable.

  1. CCP needs to have a more aggressive AI/faction hunt out and remove abandoned/offline structures in all areas to remove the existing clutter already causing some issue in certain systems. Have to first clean up and have a maintenance/clean up crew system in place before adding to the mess.

  2. There needs to be a very low hard restriction on how many of these small structures can be placed and by whom. Restrictions should be based per player, corp, AND alliance to help prevent work arounds that alts/shell corps would no doubt try to do. Adding to the work load of the server, especially in contested areas, would be self defeating.

Clean up the current mess and set restrictions to prevent a new one before coming up with the stats and identity of a new structure.

Hopefully this next expansion will do that

Long ago in a galaxy far far away a group suggested to CCP that there be a ship that could salvage abandoned Structures (low power or no fuel for POS) once it entered salvage stage it was subject to attack from anyone (suspect) it took 30minute to salvage depending on skills - we also added that ship was immune to reps while in salvage mode.

But as usual this was overlooked and the usual forum trolls attacked the idea for unknown reasons never making any logical counter argument other then THIS IS A STUPID HEAD IDEA ALL CHANGE IS BAD

I agree with the OP. I’ve long held that there should be an XSmall sized POS. And when they came out with the Upwell Structures, my first thought is “How is MEDIUM the smallest?”

What this game really needs is a personal house, and it doesn’t have that. It has a 3 story apartment building, a 10 story apartment building, and a 100 story apartment building. Even the smallest one doesn’t make sense for a small family, much less an individual.

They were on the right track with the Depots, but those are like XXXS. They have no shield/you cannot dock in them, not even a Frigate or even a Pod. I get that they don’t want mass spam in HiSec, but all they’d need to do is impose some reasonable restrictions on that (like the old POS rules where you had to have operator licenses and were restricted from lore systems or systems above 0.8 or so…)

I’d personally like PERSONAL structures, so you don’t have to join a corp/create a 1 man corp and deal with permission slots and the like. So an Xtra-Small sized structure that can only accept Cruiser and below, or hell, Frigate and below ships to dock there, has a size limit on the ships and cargo, can only do very basic reprocessing or construction (maybe you have one mod slot and that’s it), etc. Something very limited but workable for a single pilot doing small things solo.

After that, a Small sized structure would be good for those 2-5 man Corps who don’t need even the Medium sized structures.

This is Eve. This is The Sandbox. If “player housing” (which is what all this structure/POS stuff ultimately is) is only for Medium sized and larger, or you are shunted to what is effectively “public housing”, then it’s not much of a sandbox.

Not only that, the tech is now in place for at least the Small size, and probably the XS as well, and CCP has long realized this is a known problem. There’s absolutely zero reason to not fill that gap at this point.

Maybe CCP thinks about a XL Mobile Depot
Useable by fleet/corp - accesible much like a ship maintenance bay
