I think it’s Gee-ta as in Gila
One usage of ‘dixie’ I found is a colloquial for a ten dollar note (owing to a Louisiana French Quarter-based bank that labelled the notes as a ‘dix’ note rather than a ‘ten’ note).
That said, ‘Dixie’ does not appear to have ever been pronounced accordingly (hard X sound that makes it sound like ‘dicks’, not the sibilant French X that is closer to ‘disss’) so I think it is a real stretch to claim it as having a French association.
If you look at the entire region of Sinq Laison, virtually all of the system names are vaguely French. In fact, most of Gallente space is that way.
