@Gadsen_Heydt no way! I buy all my jeans from this box.
@Quentin_Schaefer and @Zaera_Keena the Smurfs are everywhere, just like Elvis.
You know, I am certain there is a topic here. You can’t keep it hidden from me!

What are these MMO’s that allow brand new players to jump to the end game without some kind of extended learning period and grind of EXP?
I have heard repeatedly that EvE needs to get with the times and cater to new players by allowing them to leap to end game content with little effort or struggle. If EvE does that it will blossom with more and more happy customers, where today, I’ve read, EvE is in a death spiral that blind, greedy vets will ride to oblivion.
This narrative would be more self evident if the people pushing it could give me an example of a super successful MMO that thrusts new bros to endgame content beside the long term vets of the game.
Can anyone give me an example in another MMO of what they want to implement?
What gets me is that people pushing that narrative ignore the fact that thousands of noobs…myself included…got by without any of that. I never had any of these proposed ‘reforms’, yet am still in the game after 20 months. And I’m pretty sure if I can cope with Eve as it is…anyone can.
The people they want to make Eve ‘easier’ for are the people who would not have stayed anyway, and the idea that making things easier is going to make them do so is pure myth and fantasy.
It is now very clear and undeniable that the person who lead this entire thread and made the best arguments is @Kezrai_Charzai hands down.
Sorry for the losers, there’s always next year.
@Aiko_Danuja You’re disqualified for unsportswomanlike behavior.
@Gerard_Amatin You are banned frrom this even next year. You ought to be ashamed of yourself.
@Minin_alnigh_Lon You get the rookie prize, congratulations.
@Io_Koval You take 33rd position. Not bad at all.
And now for the potluck and friendly competition. Who here has their cardboard ship on wheels. The race will begin after we serve the hotdogs. See you in the field!
Play on!! as Minin would say.
I do not believe it is the actual frozen corpse in which Frostpacker is seeking.
Aiko sets the rules, you are disqualified forever , not long atall.
@Iceacid_Frostpacker does not know what he seeketh otherwise he would have found it.
Your posts are not valid and not worthy of consideration while you are in that Alt, Aiko.
I repeat my question from earlier: Has anyone of the everything-has-to-be-faster guys said so far how fast exactly new players should “level”? All I keep hearing is that its bad that everything takes so long, but no one bothers to say how fast it shoud actually be. And why his timeframe is better than any other artificial timeframe, down to “everything at day one”?
We have already lined out in great length that SP are mostly irrelevant for the fun you can have in this game, because SP only limit the max-efficiency of any acitivity in EVE, but do not limit the participation in that activity in most cases. Many examples were given that real noobs have fun every day when being integrated in corporation structures, given goals and opportunities and having small successes every day. Of course, all this is ignored by the complainers.
We also lined out that the idea that “vets try to hold back noobs to enjoy their advantage” is utter nonsense because actually a lot of vets actively try to teach, sponsor and push forward and integrate noobs into their groups/communities. Saying otherwise is pure conspiration theory.
We have also lined out in great lenght that all this “Alpha train too slow, are limited yadda yadda” is utter nonsense because Alpha is simply a guest/test account, a free gift and gratitude of CCP that no one as any right whatsoever to complain about its limitations. Omega is the standard the game is build around so any judgement about progress has to be based on a permanent Omega sub and all the rewards, gifts, challenges, options such an Omega Account has to speed up it’s progress. And these are already overwhelming.
Summary of this topic simply is: For some people it’s never enough. No matter how much ISK, SP and other free stuff they are given, they still complain and they will keep complaining even if they would get double the stuff they get right now. Or triple, doesn’t matter at all.
It should be instant.
New players should get a titan in the tutorial, and all the necessary skills and trainings to ensure their infinite success.
So basically the up shot of this thread is that some/most/all people are dumb and need to be told what to do otherwise they dont do anything.
This is not news.
This is my mandatory post of the day. I hope it is illuminating and/or repulsive, whatever you need it to be for the day. Good for 1 use only, expires in 24 hours.
Chezrai’s initial proposal was (paraphrased): Give newbies the opportunity to gain 10-20 mil SP through ingame activities. So you know how crazy that is.
Beyond that, they have none. They just want more than they have now, every time a bit more. It’s like miners, they got their yields increased, EHP increased, ore holds increased but do you think they are happy? Naaah, they want more!. For carebears and people who are only interested in numbers (go up) it’s never enough, they’re never happy and they always need more, safer and easier and once they got one (tiny) victory they’ll go switch to the next opportunity or subject. And it’s always…the same… people, the ones you see crying all the time and who are never happy, some of them for years (unless they made a new posting alt).
Because of that there is literally no point in taking them serious because they will say whatever it takes to get their “more”, to get heard and to get attention. And then the next time they’ll use the same reasoning again and again and again. Until it stops working and then they’ll make a new posting alt, probably pretending to be new.
Beyond that the simple logic is that you can’t lure in newbies with game design tricks that go against the fabric of the core gameplay because if they would have stopped right away they’ll do it down the line when the hand holding stops. Is there a case to be made to ease people in to the game, oh yes very much so but “rush people forward in SP” is not one of them. If only because of the ramifications for skill extraction, alpha 5 mil soft cap and, of course, CCP’s bottom line because SP gets cheapened.
Now you’re only beginning to understand what new players want.
We also want a Keepstar so we can wardec.
We want a system to ourselves so we can mine, make ships and modules and protect it against space bullies.
We want asteroid belts that don’t disappear.
We want mining vessels that can deal with all threats, foreign and domestic.
We want a bounty system linked only to the corporation whose player was attacked.
We want the CONCORD’s license to kill revoked. They have failed miserably to enforce Hisec law.
We want all taxes cut by half.
We want all cargo holds capacities doubled.
Also, we want POCO ownership forbidden unless you have a wardecable structure in the system.
( this list susceptible to be added on as needed )
yeah, leave enough space on the sheet because you will probably add a lot more things when the free stuff is gone because it blew up out of inexperience or crossing someone who is smarter, more experienced, has better connections or a more dedicated mindset.
Do you really want one , one I was in battle with and stopped her doing her evil bidding, not the ones laying around the gates every 20 mins .
I’ll contract it to you in jita for free if you want it
Of course. One never knows what may happen in the future.
But it isn’t his stuff that will blow up, it’s MINE.
He will be in station spinning his capsule laughing while I’m undocked trying to shoot someone with ten years of more experience.
@Aiko_Danuja is correct when she says: No zKill activity, no valid opinion.
And I know it goes for me too, but I’m not here trying to change a 20-year-old game either.
Let me debunk you and MANY others opinion of Eve, it is not an exclusive PVP game, sorry.
It IS however a mmorpg where pvp is ever a possibility, but not necessary.
MWO, COD, etc etc are PVP only games, full time all the time.
That being said, there are tons of ways to train up to and be able to do things within the game with very little risk indeed.
