So much server issues lately, CCP should have gone with AMD EPYC instead of Intel

Seriously guys, you are raking it in with money with the amount of multi boxers flying about and all the blinged out plex-fueled fittings being blown up 24/7…

Don’t cheap out on servers, this is 2024, datacenters and distributed computing shouldn’t be this difficult.

Its hard to spend money on the main game when so much of the funding goes to side projects.

I saw a comment somewhere that the outage might be a Cloudflare issue, more than a CCP issue. Distributed computing will be of no benefit if the network stack sucks.

Though it would be nice if a system has mostly AU|EU|NA players in it, that node is ‘migrated’ to a compute cluster closer to that country like discord chat.

After so many years of being a second class participant, no holding out hope for that to change.

Even if it’s not a CCP internal issue, as Arcade claimed Cloudflare issues in the official problem topic, it does not put a good light on CCP’s efforts for more distributed computing and server infrastructure.

AMD :+1:
Intel :-1:

I doubt the CPU’s have anything to do with it

It might not even be ccps problem but everyone will blame ccp

It is CCP’s problem for using this kind of unstable tech, for touting it as improvement to the infrastructure and game experience.

If its not their ■■■■■■■ equipment or their servers how is it their fault

Cloudflare

They got big for a reason and it’s not because they’re unstable.

I haven’t had any problems, logging in or playing.
PC is solid, internet provider is reliable and it looks like CCP’s servers are working great.
Devs are doing a good job and all I have to say is: Thank you devs for all the hard work.

I’m guessing that is hosted on Amazon infrastructure.

It is not always a hardware issue with these games. I am guessing the new untested code recently added combined with the increase of event players is the root problem. Buggy server side software can cause more disconnects than any microprocessor

@Eloken_Toralen it was my understanding, CCP operates at a loss and is bailed out by the parent company Pearl Abyss. If they are making a profit, I am certain it goes to back to PA HQ in Korea for the rent. Otherwise I would invest revenues into German programmers who know how to program.

@Felix_Frostpacker I run a contract with them from time to time. They had me working on that “Lumbeyard” a free game engine used to promote their AWS. It went defunct a few years back and is branded as Open 3D engine, I am guessing it wasn’t selling the AWS. If you want your game source code to remain “in house”, it is best not to farm out the servers. Otherwise all it takes is one irate intern to bring the whole house down.

least the cash shop works fine though. :upside_down_face:

The Company’s revenues in 2023 were USD 73.2 million compared to USD 68.6 million in the previous year. The net profit for the year amounted to USD 5.6 million compared to a net loss of USD 205 thousand in the previous year.

doesn’t look like a loss to me at 5.6 mil profit.

I’m was in Jita, doing SKINR design, but the server was refusing to cooperate.
I couldn’t save design, activate colors, nothing worked.

So I quit EVe, shut down the Mac, and went off to the Pub…

I am back, two hours later… and the Server is still gobbled up in Jita and I have also
lost a design thinking it was saved but in fact it was trying to…

PLese DEVs, COULD YOU BLOW UP SOME BOTS AROUND HERE???

I’m literally stuck in here from two hours, waiting for the SKINR Studio to work, and then go resume playing… Bloody hell… I’m losing hundreds of millions every hour It passes…

Its their choice what equibment they use, so yes its their fault. Incompetent greedy peopl always trying to pretend they can shift the blame.

Or …

Hardware performance is way up from 2003. If server performance is not up, the software has reduced severely.
