The ECB has been working on a new design for the third series of Euro notes and 10 designs have been picked for the final decission. And now they’re asking the public to voice their opinion through a poll… this one:

Some of the designs are really cool and although I have no idea of who’s the lady in the 200 € note the others in the personalities+activities templates are easy to identify: Callas, Beethoven, Cervantes, Curie, Da Vinci… But then, the birds+buildings templates are also very cool… specially the vertical ones…
The actual final notes might reach our hands by 2030 or later as there are a lot of steps remaining.
The poll will be active until September 21st 2026.
PS: the 500 “dirty money” € note was discontinued in 2019. They didn’t had the BALLSOFSTEEL to deprecate the design and force a full renewal for a set date…

H and I.
It’s time we stopped putting people’s faces on money. I like the birds and animals, insects, nature designs. We mustn’t forget the most important aspect of life which is our natural environment and other species we keep destoying left and right.
I also liked the H and I versions with the birds.
But in general, wow this was an ugly bunch of bank notes. It’s a shame they didn’t show the new coins, coin designs are a lot more interesting to me. I would have been interested to see if they could beat the rouble coins’ design, which I consider one of the best.

Of the faces+activities I liked the E and G series, but the I series is quite lovely too.
D, H, I and J. I am sorta partial to the vertical notes. They play right into the modern portrait mode fetish of smombies. Definitely more birds than people on my money is appreciated.

B is my favourite.
I’m not a fan of faces (a few of them totally unknown to me) on bank notes and much prefer the birds and rivers.
The images on design I are way too similar that you could mistake 5 for 20 or 10 for 50 in bad light if you just look at the image. Not a good design.
J seems like pretty pictures but not like banknote-style pictures. It still should primarily be a banknote.
H and D are fine, but I prefer the style of B
Colors on rendered images and on the computer monitor are not the same as the real thing in real life. (EDIT: I guess you’re gonna have to learn those bird species if those designs do happen to have similar colors in reality. Stork is already well-known for most people, you wouldn’t confuse a 50 for a 10 for that reason alone).
I get what you’re saying that there is a similarity between the notes (with the large moon/sun thing in the middle), but it didn’t bother me, and I loved the vertical orientation.
B is nice as well.

Well, there is also the size, each note is noticeably larger than the next smaller and smaller than the next larger as that’s the primary way in which blind people tell them apart. But also the new design is supposed to add tactile clues other than the size, like textured surfaces or small reliefs, similar to how coins have patterns on the rims to help tell apart. Like 10 and 50 cents have ridges, but the 20 in-between has slots so it can’t be mistaken for the ridged ones, which in turn are different size enough to not be mistaken among them.
