I discovered that there was a release for wine-devel and staging for version 10.8, but apt update does not know about wine-staging 10.8 in spite of these files are available in the repository.
I don’t know if this is an error or an oversight from winehq repository maintenance.
However there was at the same time of the wine-staging release 10.8 a wine-devel 10.8 release and this one is installable with apt install. So i installed that, manually downloaded the 1.10.1 launcher and installed that as well and now i am running 1.10.1 launcher with winehq-devel 10.8 fine.
On debian i just switched to winehq-devel with:
apt install --install-recommends winehq-devel
Launcher 1.10.1 can be downloaded here:
https://launcher.ccpgames.com/eve-online/release/win32/x64/eve-online-1.10.1+Setup.exe
I didn’t want to try manually downloading and installing the winehq-staging 10.8 files for now. Maybe they got retracted or something else. I will switch back to wine-staging when devel is not up to run eve anymore.

Just an FYI, I upgraded to Wine 10.11 release today and it failed to launch. I got the splash “EVE” on there and it stopped. I know you are currently following this issue more than I am, but I won’t recommend using anything above Wine 10.9. I used downgrade to get it working again. Naturally this could be my test rig system and not all systems.
Wine 10.11 was released yesterday, June 27, 2025.

Are you using 10.11 devel or staging? I am currently on devel 10.11 and i cannot report the same problem. Everything runs well on my machines (Debian 12/Nvidia), launcher and game and DirectX12 with the known workarounds.

I am using the devel 10.11 from the AUR repository. Running Kernel: 6.12.28-1-MANJARO x86_64 with Nvidia drivers. I am interested to see what the next stable version of Wine will do with the launcher.
Thanks for the info.

Strangely i am not getting the latest launcher update 1.11.0 automatically by the launcher on wine. I had to download and install it manually.
Works without problems on wine devel 10.11.

I noticed WineHQ released 10.12 last week, have you tested this one yet?
I am busy sorting through a stack of old HDD at present. My cheap WD Black 2 TB puked on me. I used Test Disk utility to recover the files. The weird thing is SMART is telling me it wasn’t an overheating issue but the case is hot as a Easy Bake Oven. Error report reads LBA errors instead. I placed the file files on a 2010 Seagate and it has been running for 91,730 hours. This WD Black ran for only 7,140 hours. Oh well, there went $30 fast. This is why I am sticking with SSDs and avoiding the HDDs. This stack of HDDs are being used for backups and stored in a cabinet. Many of them are 500 GBs, I am keeping out of landfills. I have a thumb drive with almost 500 GBs on it.
I might skip testing this minor revision, no one has replied to my Bugzilla report about the issue with version 10.11 over on WineHQ. I guess stick with what works for now.

The issue with the launcher breaking has discouraged ideas of venturing into Linux for awhile, its encouraging to see newer versions of Wine with positive reports as October approaches.

Does the game work well on Steam deck? somebody have one?I’m very interested. And im surprised why dont have officially support from ccp.
Same linux based. With dock station i like the concept.
I don’t own a Steam Deck, however the hardware is basically equal to a gaming laptop. The Steam Deck costs less than a gaming laptop. Since I am running this game on a low end SFF HP desktop, I would say, there is no reason for it not to function as intended. However keep in mind, the console has no keyboard and mouse which means learning to use new controls. You can always use a usb keyboard and mouse but I think that defeats the idea of being mobile.
Don’t let one game’s issues stop you. Explore Linux OS, on a small thumb drive, without installation. I have always compared them to tailor shops. Microsoft hands you a one-size fits-all blue suit off the rack. Linux OS offers so many colors and variations to customize the fit, we even have fedoras.
I recommend using a large USB thumb drive with a simple program called Ventoy. Then you boot and can play with a variety of distros. This is easier than mucking about with a virtual machine. I have been able to run the OS from the USB drive and access Eve from my internal drive. Keep in mind the OS will boot slower from a USB.
Steam Deck is a perfect all in one hardware with docking station have external monitor, keyboard, mouse and second monitor for gatecheck or zkill example.
Desktop mode for use like a normal pc.
Maybe need little optimization for the hardware:
