Everyone is missing something simple.
If they cant scan you they are not going to shoot you.
This is not true of all gankers; empty vessels die too.
My own encounters with miners and haulers lead me to believe that they are unlikely to follow your well-intentioned advice.
If they’ve got through to Jita or returned from the belts without being ganked (and most of them have), they’re unlikely to spend ISK on a proper tank and/or boosters.
Gankers in Highsec use Warp Scramblers rather than Webifiers.

A silly thing to do…given that practically every advert for the game features war or industry for war to some degree. It’s those massive fleet battles or ganks that people actually join for. People get syphoned off to spend years watching a mining laser…and never stop to think ’ hang on…was I looking for a mining simulation when I searched for Eve ? ’

A lot of them were, yes. I’d even say that the majority were.
It is a factual statement that 96% or more of all new players who enter EVE were looking for a mining simulation.
