Stargate Trailblazers Event

For all the good that it will do us, SAME.

I think we spent some time together in Elore and Pochy, but I’m not sure I remember correctly.

I think you have me confused with someone else.

This level of psychopathic, spiteful dishonestly would make even an obese New Jersey politician with crime family ties blush like a fourteen-year-old Japanese schoolgirl getting finally noticed by senpai.

I fail to see there the war, meaning contest, occurs in this.

Because reasons detailed in several threads on these forums at length which you claim to have already read.

I have yet to hear any of the Solitude players who have commented in here explain how an additional lowsec connection into the region is going to change their play style. There is already a connection. Pirates have not flooded into Solitude and started war deccing everybody to let them PvP there. What about this gate is suddenly going to make Solitude more attractive to them when it isn’t now?

There is a fear that something may change, but I have yet to be persuaded that their fear is anything but that - a fear.

If you’re going to talk about psychopathy, ask yourself why you feel compelled to enter every thread I comment in and call me names.

I’m working on an essay for these forums on the pros and cons of casual content and how it might apply to Eve. I’m looking forward to seeing you in that thread when it’s finished!

I think there’s no real difference.

Just to name one example, there’s an entire thread in general discussion about it. The threads touching on nullification touch on it at length too. You’re supposed to 'represent’ (I can’t say it with a straight face) us. Put in the work and go read them.

It’s weird agreeing with you staaaaaaaap.

None of those reasons make a lot of sense to me. It’s 4000 word salad essays about ā€œuniquenessā€ and how you guys love living there because it’s so hard and unattractive.

That’s great. How does having one additional gate suddenly deprive you of that uniqueness? It is still a highsec island, still a pain the ass to invade and try to live in. If you all could dial down the vitriol and the verbosity and just try to explain with some detail, it would be very helpful for me. I can’t exactly argue your case for you if I can’t explain it in a way that anybody not emotionally connected with it could view as persuasive.

In my best Letterkenny voice,
TO BE FAIR, I think he does this to everyone.

It’ll probably increase the amount of people living there by a little bit, but that’s about it. My gripes with the event at this point are how they’re confirmed to be one sided, how terrible the rewards are (the best of which I already have as well) and how mining is the central mechanic of this event. Which is whatever, it’s not for me, sure. Trig Chapter 3 wasn’t for me either, but the sense of there actually being a struggle behind players pushing systems one way or the other drew me in to it.

Mobrault, the constellation that the gate is linking to, really was a tucked away haven where you could basically farm rats for free, so I’ll miss doing it there. I already do that in Aridia though, so it’s not like I’ve all of a sudden got nowhere to do it.

Also, you know… if Init ever wanted to become a lowsec alliance, depose LSH and live in Aridia, well… I think that’d be a good idea, you know? heh

Random thoughts/feedback

  • It’s good that the mining skills for trying out the basics are given out. It would be good if they could last the duration of the event.
  • After doing a couple of sites I got confused about how to find the correct LP store. After finding it and seeing the rewards, I lost interest in doing any more sites, because none of the LP rewards have any bearing on game mechanics.
  • I don’t mind the changes to the game, the game changing in general, and these types of events, however the way things were communicated leading up to this does feel like a lie or communication breakdown of some kind. And that makes me confused about how to interpret future announcements when they come. I laughed out loud when I first heard about the fall of Niarja, and I was expecting something like that, where players with varying agendas would be able to try to foil each other in some way. This clearly isn’t that, so it would have been good for that to be more obvious beforehand.

Not at first glance, no, at least not in the sense of gates being built or not. They will be, period, just like the trig systems would happen. Perhaps a choice in gates being built would have been a great alternative, but that would have required a much larger effort to organize and a longer time to complete the event. The map is so large that there must be alternatives somewhere, right ? I doubt it’s possible to do a lot of contesting in hisec, althought I did spot the usual suicide gankers in system. But in lowsec and null ? Plenty of opportunity to deny people to enter, hunt them, kill them. The contest is in the pvp context, which is always present no matter what one does in EvE.

Let’s be clear here - this is just resource wars done as a live event coupled with four new gates being added to the game and a memorial. As much as I would love to have seen player actions have the direct impact one way or the other, I think folks have slightly larger expectations for this event than CCP ever intended to deliver.

That being said, as I noted before, it seems clear that there is a ton of desire from people to be able to make permanent changes to the game through their actions. I think that’s good to know and hope it will be incorporated into future content.

This.

Also this.

This more then anything else, but again, we’re drifting from the topic here.

I did notice that.

So you do understand?

And I’m supposed to buy this ā€˜good faith’ routine? You realize even if I wanted to believe you here, you have zero credibility. All the piece size talk and all the enabling of it you’ve done really limits/undercuts your options here doesn’t it.

Strong emotion does not negate the argument.

All I can really do is continue to point you to the materials already written on it. Solitude is unique because of its isolation, and the community the locals have been able to build because of that isolation, and the trickle of new locals left behind after each failed attempt to settle the region. We are a microcosm of everything Eve has to offer. To my own experience, which admittedly is incomplete, nowhere else in highsec has these conditions. By adding a gate that bypasses established connections, reducing the number of jumps need to arrive by over half, and connecting it to a region devoted to faction warfare something unique and player built is danger of being lost. It makes it very easy to move in, and it spits on everyone who did it the real way. The game doesn’t need another damn Placid. It doesn’t need more gods damn homogenization. It needs player driven communities who make their own content, establish their own connections, and with the freedom to decide where and how they want to live.

I welcome faction war people who want to move to Solitude (or anyone else of any playstyle who wants to try their hand at it). They should have to move out here, and survive out here, the way everyone else has. That’s a choice they should have to make. Instead what we get is a the lying hand of god giving them a freebee gate so they don’t have to work for their content.

Im interested to see what CCP has planned for the Concord Space. Hopefully not creating a ā€œsafeā€ pvp-free systems.

the mining event sounds sanfu’d, therefore i have no comment. other then to say that its silly to complain that the event is bogus since players cannot effect the outcome. that was also true of the Trig invasion, just that we didnt know it at the time.

as for the future gates , im not impressed. the lowsec gate to stain and the gate between jita-amarr will only become a killing field with perma-gatecampers.
and i sympthize with the folks living in solidtude.

why didnt ccp make a gate / enterence to jove space ? new systems , brand new effects , trig / drifter homeworld ?

ccp has done alot to interfer with parts of the game that we like and customized to useing. they have done little to create NEW content.
