ive done as much as i could get my hands on, i decided that i didnt like pvp in hi-sec or null/wh after participating in it. its not like im a pacifist by nature, i just dont like the activities that surround it as much as the peaceful stuff. im perfectly content farming lvl4’s and escalations in hi-sec, and take my ganks in stride. i even setup my own personal WH base once just to feel out the content and was pretty meh about all the work involved lol. i just have a strong preference towards peace in video games and love everything about eve that doesnt have to do with ‘piracy’… all this talk is just me saying what id enjoy most as far as regulations for it are. im not bothered by someone calling me names because i know all the names that are accurate to describe me as a gamer and a human. so all others are meaningless. just like not a single person who ganks needs to worry about some rando calling them scum on a forum post about literally just an opinion xD
why should a complete strangers thoughts have any effect on anyone who doesnt decide to care about them right? im here for the discussions, im not mad or butthurt about losing a few isk here n there when i already have more of everything then i know what to do with xP (still doesnt mean i have to like it xP)

Given that PVP is a core attribute of the game, i think you need to decide which is more important.

well considering how easy its been to avoid pvp, its not really difficult for me, my last gank was 12 years ago. im not saying all this because im having a problem with being ganked alot, or mad about losing some quest progress, (still finished 7 of the combat event sites without issue after having some stolen) im literally just sharing my thoughts. for me the core of any game is enjoyment. and i still get lots from the game regardless of pvp, just for me, it could be better xP
I am the complete reverse. I only like PvP and find PvE boring. And ironically, PvP-ers are forced to do a lot more PvE than PvE-ers ever get forced to do PvP. Gankers, for example, have to PvE for clone tags or else face a hefty purchase fee for them. Scouting for stations to bash is effectively using PvE scanning and hacking methods. And so on. So really…if there is an imbalance it is far more the PvE that PvP-ers are ‘forced’ to do.

100% agree, im not saying pvp or pve should be eliminated, just that i think hi-sec pvp being allowed only hurts the playerbase old and new, when so many people ive interacted with in hi-sec over the years just want to be left alone to their friend groups and focus on industry/mission related remedial labor instead of heart pounding action. we have both pvp and pve, it would be nice if we could choose one the other or both instead of all being put on the same field regardless of playstyles or individual desires. could just be a slider for peaceful mode like gta for example, have it disable chat and have like a week long cooldown on timers for starting and ending it to prevent abuse of the system, and gamers would buy plex to just have that option. enough new players get mad in local and general forums to show that its a problem for a not insubstantial amount of players who end up leaving for other games.
if the goal is making as much money as possible, it seems weird to me that its not a thing already. but im not a game dev lol so i also cant say i know what the best route for the game is in the long run, i can only really speak for myself and the friends ive had quit ;/
On the other hand, in 9 characters I have only ever been ganked once…and that was almost a year and a half ago. I discovered systems such as Azerakish, which not only has the largest asteroid belts in Eve ( one of them is about 700km across ) but I mined without ever seeing anyone…let alone gankers. There are huge areas of highsec where you can mine all day without interference. And lowsec too…some systems in Solitude are practically empty all day. I regularly haul expensive stuff, and developed a crafty ‘relay’ system for doing so. Highsec is nothing like as dangerous as many PvE-ers make out…if people have their wits about them.
Personally I enjoy the element of not being safe anywhere…and having to devise fittings and tactics to overcome it.

yeah and im not here hating on you for enjoying it, its just that i personally dont. i can see the appeal and understand the excitement. ive also been relatively safe by being smart enough to not get caught with my pants down xP it just annoys me that i have to worry about a warpin being potentially dangerous while mining. and having to just abandon a site if someone decides to sit around to snipe the boss for a cool event with skins n stuff xP i dont like being forced into taking all these precautions and would prefer a more singleplayer experience when it comes to pve content. i personally dont use video games for my excitement, just my relaxing. so its inevitable that something annoying will happen because of how i choose to experience new eden, and have no real say in the matter beyond getting good when i just wanna have fun xP being super good in games isnt really rewarding for me, i just like passing the time with it like reading a good book or having a tasty meal. slowly amassing wealth over time, while killing off all my downtime before getting enough sleep. it just so happens that the pve stuff eve does have is amazing, and pvp threats are few and far between enough to basically have little to no issue playing singleplayer.
i appreciate you not trying to insult me for having a different playstyle as some of the others in here have, most seemed to dislike my stance on bullying and ingame actions reflecting real life mannerisms, but those are improvable conjecture anyways and are subject to personal beliefs and views vs any kind of statement of facts. so mostly just my irrelevant opinion anyways haha me saying anything will change nothing ofc xP

Once you start claiming (the fictitious) analogy between in-game and real-life personas …
… you have to ask yourself what your in-game/forums behaviour speaks about real-life you.

absolutely, i think it would do everyone some good to be considering that when interacting with people. regardless of where you act, its still your act. ingame or otherwise, if you choose to do a thing because it has no consequences, its still a conscious decision that we make to do those acts, and not have our morality in everything we do vs just picking and choosing when its required. i believe that deciding to do something because it has no negative repercussions is a perfect tell at who you would be if your life also had no consequence. Ergo, its who you really are. id doesnt matter if you say its fictitious, as its my belief. you are perfectly welcome to believe otherwise, but it will always be how i feel towards any shifts in personality ingame vs offline, without any way to prove it either way.
all people who are nice online are nice in real life too. but not all people who are pricks online are nice in real life. for me the numbers are also pretty clear here.
I’m sorry but there is no way that all people who are nice online are nice in real life, no way no how.

im sure there are bad apples, but ive yet to have a negative real interaction with people ive become friends with online, and been close enough to talk or meet in person. most of my friends beyond my small group who live nearby are all met online, i regularly hangout with a dude i met in a discord lobby, everyone who was disrespectful or acting odd i never made friends with and never had the chance for a asty person infecting my own life. tho ill admit saying it so strongly there was probably a bit too absolutist, but im confident either way that it favors more true then false for the general populace. at least in my own experiences, cant speak for everyone ofc
Do remember that the setting in EvE is a dystopia.
It’s supposed to be dog eat dog out there in New Eden.

Enjoyable for who? Not for anyone interested in the topic, which you have de-railed into some personal crusade.
I popped into this thread because I was actually kind of sympathetic to the OP’s plight. My response was going to be, “yeah, it kinda sucks, but not everyone has the same code of honor. Some people just play for points. Take a deep breath, find acceptance, and move on. Good luck, fly safe.”
But seriously, Zoltar. Talk about narcissistic self-indulgence (29 posts?!). You argued your point, bro (which in the largest part had nothing to do with the OP’s point). It was so important to you, that you argued it multiple times. Everyone on this thread understands that you wish EVE were different than it is. We got it. Truly. Now MTFO. Your endless proselytizing has become tiresome, and (frankly) at this point, you’re just making an ass of yourself.
You basically ■■■■ all over this topic. Grats on the excellent first post. I so look forward to your future contributions to this forum.

hmm i wasnt aware of any rules saying how much i could post, and i just replied to what people were saying to me, am i not supposed to do that? am i not allowed to speak my mind about anything? if a mod wants to remove my comments thats all well and good, but nobody is obligated to like anything anyone says right? i thought using the rules to do what you want was the entire point the people have been talking about? isnt telling me to move on and stop ruining peoples fun exactly the point i was originally making? i think you have the point of free speech backwards.
I can accept someone stealing my BS kill on an event site if they contributed to the site clearance in a meaningful way.
If someone was doing deliberately, and was jumping in at the last spawn and targeting my BS kills, I would spend the rest of the event following them around and messing up their kill stealing antics with T1 crap fit suicide ewar frigates, which would really end up being more fun than actually doing the event anyway.
I’m thinking that a web/turret or missile disruptor setup would be effective, and then when the pigs turn up to liquidate me , a final ECM burst would be funny
