Suicide ganking is way too low risk, change my mind

Undocking is consent though.

Or, since a short while: ‘exiting Exordium’ is consent. You decided to take part in a free-for-all PvP game.

Including the forums!

Some people here may not agree ( especially the ones that have ignored me for whatever reason ) But im a lot damn better at forum pvp than i am at anything in the game.

There, i said it. :stuck_out_tongue:

Getting a post flagged is the equivalent of being ganked.

I wanted to thank everyone for the comments. I understand both sides have very strong opinions about this topic but it’s important to find a balance that is fair to both sides. Risk vs reward is important. Ganking should not be a simple math problem, there should always be a chance of failure.

I do want to give my best advice for avoiding ganks, Do not use officer or faction mods. Use strictly T2 mods the motivation to ganking is like everything else in eve online it comes down to a single word “greed”

I feel the addition of the new Exordium 53 system safe space for new players my viewpoint and concerns were addressed by CCP/Fenris Creations. THANKYOU! This will give low reward and low risk space for new players to learn. As a 20 year vet this will mean a lot to the future of our game.

Not really, because ganking in the game happens withing a ruleset, is a valid action and has a determined outcome.

I would compare a flag rather to an exploit. You hand the post in for review. And if FC deems it against the rules, it is removed from existence. So it it is removed, the poster executed a violation of the the rules in the first place and therefore did something comparable to an exploit, as otherwise the post would be reinstated.

I literally had an inoffensive (happy!) 3-word post with a smiley face flagged, so…

I had a kitten gif flagged.

A kitten gif…really?

It’s an automated system. There’s a couple griefers who ‘play’ the game by flagging posts and getting things removed. I guess it’s fun for them?

Aiko, have we changed your mind yet? :smiling_face_with_sunglasses:

…about what?

Suicide ganking being too low risk…

Have you provided any evidence, or any kind of argument?

That it’s too low risk? Well, you can buy your security status back even if you fail. Kill rights aren’t really the easiest to redeem. Bounties don’t exist anymore. Multiboxing and input broadcasting are more prevalent. Botting is widespread…

I think it’s easier to gank these days. There are probably less targets, though. Not sure about profitability…

You can hide out in Exordium, so there’s lots of shiny stuff now out of reach (AT, etc.) Exordium may create pilots more or less risk averse (coin toss). So there could be fewer or increased targets going forward.

I think ganking is dying out. No evidence, just a gut feel.

So what?

That’s just nonsense. Looking back at 2023…every single month Safety got more than 1 Trillion ISK worth of kills…whereas now its well over a year since there was over 1 Trillion in Kills and most months are not even half that. How does that constitute 'getting out of hand ’ ?

Sounds like a problem!

Should we ask FCCP to reinvigorate this essential and game-defining playstyle of criminal gameplay with some buffs?

I mean, I’m no ganker but the ruthlessness and danger of EVE is largely dependent on this one playstyle for many players, and that same danger drew me to this game.

Surely we cannot let ganking die out.

What ganking buffs are you thinking of to fix this problem?

Sure, it will sure help my little operation a lot.

Knock yourself out! I don’t think that buffing ganking will significantly change the numbers (I could be wrong, too). Expanding the types of criminal activity might.

For example, they could introduce a new type of breeching pod that steals cargo from a ship and results in a suspect flag. So instead of having to gank a ship you could instead leech from it.
