Because this is an MMO and not a single-player game
Minor Conduits are not a challenge. If you are struggling with them, there is much you can learn from those who don’t have problems, aren’t using stupid expensive fits, and will still be able to do them after the resistance nerfs (esp since BSes get +10% HP anyway)
Bling ships are not a substitute for fleetmates. The cost of blinging your ship rises more quickly than the cost of a fleet providing equivalent manpower. It is not uncommon to find yourself in a situation where 2x 500m ships are more effective than 1x 3b ship.
Games are not cases for changing your real life routines. So pushing players to do something means there will be less players rather then more “fine players”. It is better to find place for different playstyles - it makes AO conversions and billing of any project better/
Right now it’s really important that we don’t give this impression to CCP. There’s been some talk in interviews about the big stuff being ‘top end’, and the larger ships being ‘aspirational’… and while that’s true for some players, it’s important to make sure we let CCP know that there are other aspirations and other ‘top end’ forms of gameplay for a big part of the playerbase.
Mate, get out of highsec a bit. That’s not snark, its advice, and well meant.
I fly in MinMil Factional Warfare. We burn through hundreds of mil worth of T1 frig/T1 dessy hulls a week. This is going to keep demand up nicely.
As for alpha ganking, yes you can do it. You are limited to one account logged in at a time however, and my major point is the cost/reward ratio anyhow. Do some quick mafs, a T2 catalyst costs about 12m, fully fit. You would need a minimum loot drop of 12m to break even, much less profit. At 50% drop chance, your target needs ~25m fitted to be worth ganking with a T2 cat.
A T1 costs you 2m tops. Pretty much if anything T2 drops, its paid for. Do the math, which one would a ganker use? The one that makes them money, or costs them money?
The ammo change wont change the equation. This will not make ganking increase. Neither will the resist mods. Proc/Skiff are rarely profitable to gank, when fit smart, and that wont change. Dropping resists by 20% takes an AIF II from 30% resists to 24%. Its a small amount, and not enough to make a tanky barge profitable to gank, unless they fit faction gank bait mods.
In terms of newer players not playing when things are even more challenging and difficult than they are now? If you feel the typical gamer wants to through that, we’ll have to agree to disagree.
In terms of the company’s books. It’s simple logic. Veteran players leave Eve (eventually), and their subscriptions dry up. How do you fill that void? New players. The fewer new players that stay, the less revenue CCP makes. I can’t distill this any more simply so I hope this makes sense.
In terms of me liking Eve a lot, you’re darn right I do, to the point I flew out to do an Eve Vegas presentation for the community. It’s the only video game I player actually and has been for about 7 years. So when I see a decision made that could herald harm to it, yes I’m going to speak up. Don’t confuse disagreement with a design decision with a dislike of the game.
People who quit because of blackout, many, at least didn’t come back.
People who quit because the markets are now screwed up(lower volume, lower velocity of money, HIGHER COSTS OF BUSINESS ) many, at least, won’t come back.
People who quit because this latest nerf, many, at least, won’t come back.
In which case you’ve irritated many players and ended up with the same isk sink. Alternatively players stop doing some the activity you spent all those dev hours on as the risk reward balance is all wrong
It is fine for me to misspell =) I use English only in games most time other languages =) Whatever
You know you would be right if not situation in which every “good corp” have its own gate to camp. So there is many groups sitting in different places not willing to engage eachother. And little “not so skilled an honorable” teams looking to move something =)
They add those things and then either nerf them to the point where the rewards make it not worth doing anymore, or else like with this update just nerf the ships or modules people are using to do that content with to the point it’s not viable anymore.
You should know that joining EvE llong ago was way more difficult than it is now. It was when I joined and it wwas more difficult before that. Your argument is a shyte argument and that has been proven year after year.
I don’t give a rats ass whether you have been to Vegas or not, it doesn’t change that I find your opinions bollocks.
That’s still not a stalemate. They’re not camping those gates at each other. They’re not grrring at the people camping other gates. They’re not targeting those people. That’s like claiming two different fishing boats are at a stalemate because they’re not trying to capture one another’s crew.
They’re hunting the same kinds of targets in different places. That’s not a stalemate.
It’s topend PVE content clearly. I don’t want get into the null/hisec flame war. I’d love to live in a WH or join an alliance but my play hours are erratic which I think gets in the way of corp life. This is why basic nerfs to solo play are such a bummer for me. I’ve no interest in stopping ganking or the right of players to make 40 jumps at 3am to sit in tidi if they want, I just would quite like to be able to play the game in the way I am able to and enjoy.
And just to clarify… i was not referencing trig sites. but rather … scanables and other anoms. but it sounds as if Trig content is becoming less riskier as well.
