Surgical Strike – Coming 15 April

How is this a T2 Ship nerf? If anything, because T2 Ships come with higher base resistances, they’re less impacted. T2 racial resistances are now more valuable than ever.

Didn’t this already happen?

unrelated . The impact is the same, whathever is your base resist.
But yes, T2 are not more impacted than others.

We’ve been over how wrong you are. Because base resists are a multiplicitive factor in an inverse distance formula, they are extremely significant for final resist number, and because damage applied follows an asymptotic curve towards 100,0, final resist number is the ultimate point.

You may have missed a previous post where I explain how the exact effect of these changes on tanking can be computed in very simple and easy to understand terms. One of the things that the mathematical analysis done there shows is this:

In particular, the relative increase in the damage taken after the change does not depend on the base resists provided by the ship.

Love to know what missions those are.most lvl4’s drop crap and ammo. In the last month ive yet to see any faction or storyline items. Even the large bounty mission drop the same, i’d more out of reprocessing, than selling the loot.

With the resistance update even with the best modules it will be tight and the isk/risk factor aren’t the best then. It was close beforehand in solo fits.

Personal the resistance update is too extreme, they should have looked at an update stacking penalty for this instead.

Except the invul of your modules don’t ADD to your base resist. Instead, they add a LAYER which interact with your base resists in a MULTIPLICATIVE way.

So you’ve only been over your basic math lessons : if I increase a price by 10%, it’s an increase by 10% whatever the previous increases were. In that case it’s a reduction by x%, whatever your base resists are.

The multiplication from invul T2 was ×1.43(-30%), with this patch it’s reduced to ×1.35( -26%), therefore it’s a MULTIPLICATION by 1.35/1.43 = 0.946 so a reduction of your tank by -5.5%

That’s just basic maths : your tank when fitting only one invul T2 is reduced by 5.5%. And that’s one of the least impacted modules.

well this is really aimed at caps so probably wont see caps very often after the change. people are not going to throw them away just because CCP says. plus with the ore rebalance (aka CCP virus) making it harder to build them nobody new will ever get one. i have a feeling once this COVID-19 goes away CCP wont be enjoying 40K user stats. I know I unsubed all my accounts until they fix and admit there mistakes. which I know will never happen, but this isn’t the only game out there.

I just did the math on what I have spent on eve since June 2019. brace your self , a whopping $6066.31. Star citizen seems cheap now.

Exactly. A multiplicitive change is effected by a different base factor. An additive change would not be.

No they are not.
when the tax goes from +10% to +15% of the base price, it means the price increase is 115/110 = +4.5% . Does not matter of other tax that also apply multiplicatively.

This is a statement imprecise enough that it could be right or wrong depending on how it’s interpreted.

A T1 and a T2 ship fitted with the exact same tanking mods will see the exact same relative change in their tanking capabilities, i.e. the amount of incoming damage they may tank will be decreased by the exact same factor in both cases.

It could be argued, however, that T2 ships with better base resists are “less impacted” in the sense that you may achieve the same overall resists with fewer and/or less powerful resist mods than you would need in a T1 ship, and that is what could reduce the impact of the changes on them in practice.

Thanks for your understanding and advice. I have done a lot of exploring various things in the game, ive tried relic/data sites in wormholes (keeps you engaged but not my bag), mining (dull), trading (was fun for a bit), built a few ships, distribution missions (not interesting but can do other stuff while doing them), security missions up to level 3 and most recently emerging conduits. Someone suggested abyssals in a cruiser so I will give them a go.

My opinion was the nerfs will make the jump into higher tier content harder and more time consuming in terms of skilling up for newer players which might turn them off (I have heard that new player retention is low). Some vets are saying the majority of new players (who stick around) are perfectly happy taking a slow low risk route while waiting for optimal training so my opinion is an edge case that shouldn’t be considered (which I’m happy to accept, but is this why new player retention is low?).

With this in mind I will probably give it a go at some point, worst case I clear out the hangar a bit.

Yeah that’s kind of the whole point.
That’s why I said T2 resistances will be more valuable after the change.

Good evening. If you have an issue with the way moderation is performed, I invite you to file a petition.

Welcome to ganking only online, a place where upper tier ships like super carriers and titans become a giant isk sink, where faxes are now a crippled useless ship.

Actually the correct course of action is to contact communityteam@ccpgames.com from the verified email address connected to their EVE Online account.

The main issue is that the Forum Rules are no longer enforced which makes the Flag system pretty much useless.

You would prefer silence? That’s all that would be left if they “went by the rules”.

Nope, that’s incorrect.

I remember when forum rules were enforced in the old forums and they were a lot more active compared to these toxic forums.

https://community.eveonline.com/support/policies/forum-moderation-policy-en/

The EVE forums are intended to provide a warm, friendly atmosphere for the EVE community.

To maintain order and a sense of community, all users should read and follow this policy. By using the EVE Online forums and participating in discussion there, users are affirming their willingness to comply with these terms.

How many people communicated on the forums back then compared to now?

Edit; And what years please.

I’ve been thinking after watch a detailed youtube video on rhe last (3 of 5) resource changes, and it stuck me as to a possible reason for this massive resistance update.

If you think about the effects and combine the increase damage bonus to certain T2 ammo, then look at the replacement costs in materials.

Now its been noted that where the last resource update nullsec won’t be able to mine enough trit to build battleships let along Capitals. It common knowledge that nullsec corps have huge supplies to materials.

But if CCP somehow changed the kill ratios of ships, and with the lower availability of replacement materials, it would force nullsec to eat through their reserves or pay massive isk prices to maintain their stock level as they are currently.

No person think its a stupid idea, but when you look at all the changes and the effects CCP are putting in place it sort of makes sense. Kill more ships, means more need to be built to replace loses, and thus materials are needed, and where do get them if you can’t source locally? Resource supplies or out of regions at a higher price, and then contend with gankers stealing your orders in transit due to weaker tanks.

CCP have done a great job of rebalance the wealth by means of a big nasty stick.

As i see it most CAPs will be put into reserves due to cost of replacement, and brought out when no other option is available, or when CCP reverses the resistance update later on.

Heh, if even some of the forum moderation policy was enforced this thread would look very different, for e.g.:

"certain types of conduct are prohibited on the EVE Online forums. These are:

  • Trolling
  • Flaming
  • Ranting
  • Personal Attacks
    "

There are a number of posters who would simply not be seen, as that’s all they seem capable of doing.

Personally I think this would be great.

@ISD_Dorrim_Barstorlode please feel free to amp up the moderation, thanks.

Regards,
Cypr3ss.
