¯\ _ (ツ)_ /¯ I tried.
Do or do not. There is no try.
Mr Epeen
Got 'im.
Can’t we all just get along?
No
You have to park an overtanked orca in a belt and then fall asleep while mining.
Flashy red is a state of having a criminal timer under crimewatch, or because you are <= -5 security status. They aren’t actually the same thing at all mechanically.
In both cases, even docked you are still flashy red and nothing about being podded changes that.
If you mean the criminal boards the ship, that is not possible. When hyperdunking was ruled an exploit, it was then made impossible by making it impossible for criminals to board a ship in space.
So an extra Orca or Bowhead flown by an alt won’t be harboring a criminal. It’ll just be carrying ships.
No problems. Obviously, there is some misunderstanding of how the game works. Hopefully my opinion has helped clear it up.
Ganks are not at all frequent in Highsec, considering the size of the place, the amount of traffic and the fact it’s home to the majority of EVE’s players.
For those who believe that attacks on random in-game ‘innocents’ are wholly indefensible, nothing will persuade them otherwise; no, not even ganking-for-profit; certainly not ‘for fun’. It’s a waste of time to try.
For the ganker, he or she will never accept that the moralising-majority should dictate the parameters of their chosen career path.
Stalemate, you see.
I never ganked for profit. Just as, in Real Life, I worked the 9-5 in order to spend the disposable part of my earnings on entertainments, in EVE, I did the same. I cultivated my in-game activities in order to spend as much as possible on reducing barges to metal scraps and sundry modules - which I might or might not loot, according to my mood.
And yes, if I had a thin month in-game and I had the Real-World cash, I’d log in to Account Management and get it sorted.
This is why thread titles such as ‘Surviving Gankers’, draw only a wry smile from me. Players may do as they wish, but the determined ganker is only really limited by his/her means. Nothing a player does will afford protection against the not-for-profit ganker. At least, under the present arrangements.
It’s true that the solo-ganker is under threat, and will probably not survive. Not everyone has deep pockets. I’m hopeful that, in the future, gankers will help each other when called upon, with resources or pilots.
We have been described as ‘a cancer’, and in other, equally obscene terms, when all that’s really happening is that we are not you and you are not us.
I don’t hate those dedicated to fighting ganking; people like @Githany_Red. She is eloquent and reasonable in support of her chosen path.
If you want to survive a gank attempt, Good Luck! The ganker may have erred, but there’s always next time!
There is no misunderstanding how the game works. The misunderstanding is yours. I was not talking about what is. I was speculating on what could be.
It was your choice to pretend otherwise to try and own me.
Mr Epeen
I’m not trying to own anyone.
Was just pointing out that a suggestion that flashy red cannot dock in NPC stations won’t work, because it you are podded and go to your home station, then if that is an NPC station, you’ll be docked, even while flashy red.
Also, that in a practical sense, not being able to dock will have little effect on where gankers can operate, because there is an easy work around.
The sum total of your speculation was that flashy red cannot dock in NPC stations. You didn’t post anything more than that. So if you have more detail to an idea, it’d be great to read.
But why the hostility? Ideas are great, even ineffective ones. Through discussion, they might become effective, but there has to be more to it than “flashy red can’t dock in NPC stations”.
Hostility? No.
Mildly annoyed at the day drinker who spends every waking hour nipping at my heels? Yes
Immediately shooting down ideas is not conducive to civil discourse. Maybe you should work on that.
You may now have your last word. I know you can’t help yourself.
Mr Epeen
I can’t remember the last time I even replied to you prior to this current interaction. So not sure where you get that from.
EDIT: Actually I found it through search, because that had me curious as to why you’d think I spend any time at all nipping at anyone. It was July 17 (Zkills and its short comings - #5 by Scipio_Artelius). That’s 5 months ago.
Civil discourse is conducive to civil discourse, even where it highlights that an idea in it’s current state is ineffective. We don’t have to be an echo chamber in order to have civil discourse.
No problems. Thanks again.
No you won’t be absolutely safe. This statement is based on a false assumption that the gank is purely financially motivated and if they can’t make a profit they wont attack you. If you follow his logic your going to lose a lot of ships.
Edit: what I said is true but I fail in reading the whole post, OP did qualify his statement with “It’s always possible that you can get ganked unprofitably.” Sorry
Ouch. That hits a bit close to home.
You’ve still got some spark left in ya, pops. And unlike him, you’ve never missed a Seeking Arrangement payment.
By the way, I’m going to need to buy a new Kronos soon, so…
Put the bottle away. No one likes an angry drunk.
Mr Epeen
I am inevitable ‘snap’
