Team Security 2026 Bans

Apparently so…

Discount next year?

I’m afraid the Ganker’s Union sets the rates.

I should have known.

But where do you get the wifi? Is it the yak?

Where’d you pluck that number from?

Seems arbitrary and likely wrong.

There’s around 30k continuous logins daily (from memory) lets say they average a couple of hours each, that’d make the total toonbase something round 360,000. We know multiboxing happens so lets say player:toon is around 1:3 that’d make the active playerbase around 120,000.

Maybe there’s a horde of ex-players sulking about PLEX or Injectors or Abyssals or Exordium, but I doubt it myself and even if there are as many as there are active players that still leaves your estimate 4x reality.

Is it possible though that 1,000,000 people have created an eve account over its 20+ year existence? That is the only reference that seems plausible.

I mean it’s possible, but then so are lots of things, without some evidence from somewhere it’s just an unsupported claim.

Even if they are only half wrong and the total number of accounts is 500,000 the banned player count is just statistical noise. The better argument to make is when the ~1% are responsible for a outrageously large percentage of negative outcomes. If I remember one EVE Fanfest there was a CCP person state that one player ( this was before alpha clones also ) had a hundred accounts and they reached out to them directly to discuss some the ‘activities’ they were engaging in.

With the amount of bloat the EVE client has and the RAMapocalypse multi-boxing is probably less of a problem than it was a decade ago. I used to be able to run 4 clients on a 750 ti on performance mode, while that card will support DX11 games I am betting it would struggle even on super potato mode. The only problem I have with that is it kind of makes multi-boxing and the benefits that come from that a function of real life dollars, which starts to get a bit P2W adjacent.

It’s from one extreme to the other with you. As if there was no grayscale.

zkillboard indicates more than one million people have played this game.

You mean more than 1 million toons have been involved in PvP.

Don’t forget some people have over 100 accounts, i.e. 300+ toons

Well, if you just want to count actual players, I think there’s 5 or 6 of us.

@Eloken_Toralen understands it…

…exactly!

What you need to remember, cheaters are probably enlisting external server farms. Technology where they can run the game from other servers. For example; Nvidia’s Geforce Now. They are designed to even operate the game from a web browser, because all the heavy lifting is done on the server side. This means your cheater doesn’t need the game downloaded, can have the home PC off, and the bot along with the game is whirring away. Which also means, the game company could end up blacklisting an entire server address, when they get caught. Don’t forget, we are talking about a person with enough cash to support 20 omega accounts. So $50 per month extra on the monthly cost for rent on a server? Might as well add it to their coffee budget.

I still say the report on banning players is propaganda. I am NOT saying that +4000 didn’t get the ban hammer, just when compared to the unknown estimated player base population it looks very thin. When talking about the current online population 4000 sound like they hit 10 to 12 percent of the total. No, because that is reporting who is currently playing and not all those who are yet to login this week, month, or year. I bet anyone could dig up 4000 inactive accounts and toss them to the curb as well, and you would not be the wiser.

Now to answer the unknown estimated player base population, 1 million is just another guess. But we sure know it is not 35,000 as reported by the most moronic web trackers out there. That number would mean each of us omega players are paying more than $1,500 a year and there are no alpha players in this game at all. We don’t even know the statistical percentile ratio on omega to alpha players. My account will drop to alpha in a week, remain there for the summer before returning to omega in the fall or winter. If or when I get a call back to active field work, I could be off a whole year or not be back at all.

I hope this better explains my point of view on this report.

The 35,000 is simultaneous logged in accounts, both Alpha and Omega, it comes from the server api and thus can be assumed to be accurate unless your some kind of paranoid who thinks there’s a valid reason for FC to lie about it and go to the effort of publishing a fake player count.

The maths I did above, shows that would equate to around 360,000 active accounts. So yeah I agree it’s ~1% and thus not really a significant number of accounts which have been banned.

You seem to assume this is because FC don’t care about botting, and botting is rife, and you probably also cleave to the hyperbole that there’s hundreds of botters each running 50+ accounts at once ruining the game. Whereas it seems much more likely to be because there aren’t that many botters, because what’s the point? FC sell PLEX at competitive rates, so it seems fanciful to assume that botting in EvE is really a good way to make real world money.

Sure there’s a fair few multiboxers in the game, who play by the rules and run up to 10 clients on a machine or two and have trained hard to be able to flick between the clients quickly and thus play the game, I see folk in game get irate when the lose ships to multiboxers and then accuse them of botting, and check the logs, and then it becomes apparent that only 3-4 ships were getting command on any tick and the 'boxer was just good.

It’s not always that, I’ve also seen reports upheld and accounts closed, so there are people botting, but they are being banned.

Seems like folk just want Drama and find it fun to imagine that FC are in cahoots with these evil botters who are ruining the game.

But none of that is true, FC don’t want the game ruined and make good efforts to enforce the rules around botting, and there is no real motive to bot this game, it’s a low population, niche MMO which can’t be worth the effort.

Nice theory all in all, but nothing else.

You could even have looked up the conditions for Geforce Now before you developed your theory. Since the beginning of this year Geforce Now is only suitable for real players and no bots. It has a limit per month of 100 hours. If you are a heavy gamer this is even not enough for manual play as it equals to only 3 hours per day. Also all those subscriptions have a session limit of 6-8 hours.

This is before we even come to pricing.

The 500k Milestone: The last time CCP announced total subscriber counts was in February 2013, proudly stating they had reached over 500,000 subscribers. They have not released official total subscriber figures since.

most likely cause they just didn’t see the need for it, and the numbers mattered even less once alphas came to be.. not to mention the multiboxing of 20 plus accounts before alphas.

I just realized your character looks like Marlon Brando in Apocalypse Now…
