I would be really curious to know how many different offences got each account banned? I have a feeling RMT, botting and input automation are like birds of a feather…
Gonna have to agree with Eaglefeather here, MAC bans are generally not effective. In particular, the development of wireless technology intentionally favored anonymous communication, making it much easier to hide your identity and avoid any bans. My alliance has had a number of permabanned players, all of whom are still playing the game. Doesn’t look like CCP has the ability to do anything about it. They can ban an account, but they can’t stop the individual from simply opening a new account.

How come your alliance doesn’t do anything? You obviously know who they are… (just asking) I guess reasons are: 1. Hard to attract new players. 2. FC’s problem - not mine.

Exactly! See #2 above, lol. Which is why we need to start naming/shaming alliances, then dissolving them.
It depends on how far both sides want to go. Since CCP installs a client software on each connected computer, they could go very deep with hardware-fingerprinting and kernel-access to prevent spoofing software etc. to circumvent their bans, deny access from within VMs etc…
However that would be pretty invasive and not many companies are willing to do that. And if the banned people would be willing to sell their old PC and just buy a (new) used one, they’d have minimal costs and a completely new setup that is of course non-related to the previously banned account. So they could repeat whatever they did until they get detected the next time.
Certainly they could do more, and they should. However, they are clearly not even able to deal with mining bots, so I’m not getting my hopes up.

Yeah, but the isk and assets from the banned account are confiscated, even if they traveled to a new account. Fenris follows the money. There have been claims by some players that they got their account banned because they accepted a transfer from a ‘‘friend’’ and friend’s money was apparently involved in RMT or any other bannable offenses.

sub the new account with your own money or: buy plex to sub the new account with your money
buy plex with real money to inject
carry on until you’re found out again
What’s the point of doing this again? As soon as you get banned your devices, IP, etc get flagged and you’ll be easier to track down. Even if you manage to fly under the radar for a while, as soon as your income starts amounting to a significant figure you are gonna be found out again. And you’ll lose your stuff again. Restart again. Who the hell enjoys that kind of game play?

Well my omega ends about mid month here, I will be alpha again for the remainder of the summer. Not sure if or when I will pick it back up either.
I say we take off, nuke the site from orbit. It’s the only way to be sure. Just ban them all and let God sort them out.
We all know that is not going to happen. Corporate greed versus honest gameplay is sort of a dead end. We have heard and read “The meek shall inherit the Earth.” however another proverb to stick in your book is “Trust fund babies will lord over all online video games.”.

There’s corporate greed and there’s a legitimate basis for making profit to cover your business costs, further your enterprise, and earn yourself some income as well. You want examples of corporate greed look to tobacco firms, McDonald’s, and the like who push their products even though it’s been proven over and over again how deleterious their stuff is to human health. Tobacco firms even went a step further and commissioned ‘‘scientific’’ studies saying that tobacco has no ill effects on your health.
Fenris doesn’t fall into the ‘‘corporate greed’’ category. They just have created a game which was geared to multiboxing from the start, and if people use it within the rules set out, of course they’re not gonna pass on that income. I don’t see anything wrong with that from their end.

Will the Jita spammers be dealth with? Constant influx of 3 day old alts circumventing block lists and bot spamming sales.
Make a chat filter for auctions and hypernets and you remove 95% of the Jita spam.

Everyone, you, me, and Ghandi all have greed in us. It is part of us. To what degree do we allow our greed to influence our decisions in life, is another matter. Making cash from the omegas who multibox, they don’t want to lose that large chunk of revenues. I understand that point. The question is, do they turn a blind eye to the user who has 20 omega accounts, playing them all at once, for 20 hours per day?
They could find a better way to make income. enforce a new ruling, and establish it is no longer allowed or it is restricted to a maximum number of accounts. It won’t happen, because it is too easy to just sit back, twiddle their thumbs, and collect the money. The report stated 4400, but only 2377 for automation, then we see the wheel pie chart. Currently on Tuesday at this time we have 21,200 players online now, but this is not ALL the players. This is just public relations. I don’t consider it significant amount from the amount of spam bots we can see in Jita each day.
If there are 1,000,000 players total in the player base, then they banned less than 1% (0.24%) for botting. We don’t see the total active players per day, week, month, or year. We only see there is 20 to 35 K online at any given time. When you see a public outcry, like as I have in other game forums, complaining about bans, then you know they are doing some damage. Not that I wish to see people posting unreasonable ban posts in these forums, but it happens when you are knocking on doors.
I wouldn’t elevate FC to sainthood on this one.
Don’t speak for me. I don’t have that gene in me. Couldn’t care less about money and possessions. And I’m not the only one in the world.
