I’d rather replace the ‘crushing’ experience with a burning one: something that lingers, but promotes new growth, instead of just leaving depressions.
What about (as an off-the-cuff idea): ships lost in HS automatically have Silver insurance, unless you’re the aggressor in a wardec (ie: you’re the one instigating the conflict, in which case, the current ‘normal’ payout) or CONCORDed (in which case, no insurance at all). Ships lost in lowsec are as normal, and ships lost in null can’t be insured. No payout, as if CONCORDed.
I don’t think you quite understood what the trailer was about… Trying focusing on the words not the ships, its not a picture book.
The state of the whole game is aids, only reason i’m here arguing my corner is if I do ever decide to re-sub I want a mechanic to come back to.
There’s all this talk about war dec’s but most of our guys don’t even play, were bored, Eve is boring and people just don’t have the same mindset anymore about investing time into games. They would rather play PUBG or Fortnite then sit on a Titan for hours to get blue balled.
Don’t get me wrong, I have logged off and waited 7 hours to kill a Rattlesnake before. Would I do that nowadays? Hell no load up PUBG.
They lose for a lot of reasons.
They usually lack numbers.
They usually lack specialist pilots in essential roles (like logi).
They usually lack an understanding of PvP tactics and how to respond to them.
They can’t shoot the enemy logi.
They don’t have tried and tested fleet compositions with fits that were designed by experienced, knowledgeable people, and which are ‘known good’ in combat performance.
Basically: there aren’t enough of them, and they don’t know what they’re doing. That’s why they get picked on in the first place.
This would only shift the balance a bit, but that’s about it. It doesn’t really solve anything nor caters to what people have been asking for.
I’ve seen players ask for more intel tools in wars. I thought maybe when wars are declared mutual, and the cost factor for the wardec disappears, that one could make war targets visible on the map and for both sides. It doesn’t change the balance, it lifts the “fog of war” and thus accelerates wars, provides players with the intel they need.
Otherwise social corps, with basically the same features as an NPC corp, thus no ability to take part in wars nor the ability to set up structures, and basically no risk since its just really a player-made NPC corp.
Other than this I have not seen any balanced or smart solutions to the debate. Only protective nonsense, removal ideas, change or abandonment of mechanics, but nothing truly constructive.
It can, but people learned to use many alts with high dps ships and alpha damage so CONCORD is useless in such case. But when someone not have enough dps, CONCORD will deal enough damage to destroy attacker, protecting the victim from destruction.
I always fancied the idea of allowing players to start not only in high-sec, but also in null-sec where alliances can have their own recruitment centres and new player experiences. But this isn’t really the right moment to bring this up.
Anyway, I don’t care how often you repeat it. I ignored it the first time and will do so again of course. Soon you’re going to suggest to wrap new players into bubble wrap and keep them in a save storage until they’re ready, or when you say they’re ready.
It’s no change from the current situation. And I don’t know what your problem with neutral logis is. Once they start repping do they become suspect and can be shot by anyone, not just the war parties. You probably don’t have a problem.
But… they are already in a corp that cant be wardecced and if they all join “PIRATE jnr” then it actually makes life easier for everyone else since they become easier to spot in local. (and if they are in a real corp it’s a bait corp to then ally for free as a defender for more wars for the main corp and then move the logi onto the next bait shell).
So… not really seeing the downside here.
This is true. However, you’re thinking like an experienced PvPer. Forget that experience. You’ve got the guys who are shooting you… the guys, I should note, you’ve probably targetted automatically because you don’t know enough to turn off the return-targeting that’s on by default. You’ve got a bunch of guys shooting you, and a bunch of other guys who just went suspect, but aren’t shooting you, and are further away.
Why’d they go suspect? Did they flip a can? Maybe they’re shooting the guys shooting you? You don’t know. Because you don’t know this stuff. This stuff isn’t the stuff you do, and this is a fairly complicated game. So you need a minute to figure out what your opt-
No, I’m suggesting that you don’t have to pay for Gold in highsec, unless you’re going to be declaring war on someone. Lose an uninsured ship in HS when you’re not the aggressor in a war OR being killed by CONCORD, get the current ‘Gold’ level of insurance payment.
Insurance as it currently exists would work in HS for Silver/Platinum, Wardeccers, and in Lowsec. None in Null.
