Maybe if you spent less time ranting in the forums, you could work on your book a little more. I remember when I wrote my first couple books, I stopped posting anywhere else, and I just focused on the task at hand. Also, if you are trying to mine while writing, the distraction might be a bit much. Nobody wants to read an AFK author.
Have you considered starting an award winning blog? Articles like Miner, Don’t Beat Your Wife! are popular with the EVE Online community. I’ve heard that challenging yourself to write a daily blog, instead of forum dirge, is an excellent way to improve your ability to compose actual paragraphs with coherent sentence structure.
