The Hypocrisy Of The 'I Hate PvP' Miners

Explain to me how do you plan to get ships built without the basic materials?

Probably from miners who mine anyway even under the threat of being destroyed.

They might secretly even have their own mining fleet and are pushing competition out to earn more ISK!

I too don’t mind shooting miners when I get that chance, yet I too am a miner occasionally. People can fill multiple roles in this game.

I mine regularly, very few people attack me for it though. The hate isn’t for miners in general, it’s for those that believe they should be able to do it in absolute safety in a game where the acts of one player always interact with those of everybody else (generally via industry and the market), and where the conflicting aims of players are what makes it interesting.

In the broadest sense of the term, everything in Eve is PvP, as in you’re competing with other players for resources, economic dominance, influence and power - regardless of how PvE an activity looks on the surface.

I already have ships.

We no longer need the mining caste.

Can also get free destroyers from the tutorial.

When I came here for PvP, I thought this was like most PvP games, where you weapon level through weapon skills. But this game is not PvP based at all, it is an economy based game with a PvP wrapping on it. CoD, BF, Destiny, Apex, all of them I know how those can get spite filled very fast. This game you are encouraged to form guilds aka corps, do a bunch of skill leveling and also resource gathering. It is so scatterbrained, I honestly don’t know where the developers were aiming to produce here. I bought into other PvP games and you git gud real fast in those with just a few months, but from where I sit, this game will take an average omega player more time than humanly possible. It really isn’t too hard to understand why Eve has this revolving door on the game.

You don’t have to do resource gathering.

I sell mining permits instead.

CoD, BF, Destiny, Apex, etc. are all twitch games - PvP yes, but a very different kind. A player-driven economic sandbox like Eve is very much a PvP game, but one that revolves around long-term strategy, skullduggery, backstabbing, propaganda, asymmetrical information warfare, massive social networks, etc. The biggest difference being that in EVE you’re misled into thinking you’re not a combatant because you don’t have to shoot people in the face unless you want to.

At risk of tooting my own horn, this is primarily aimed at new players - which you’re kind of not, but kind of are - but it may give you a little more insight into the kind of game that EVE is. It’s a slightly tongue-in-cheek attempt at a survival philosophy.

Comparing a full loot PvP MMO to shooters and saying the former is ‘not PvP’ because it is unlike the latter is like saying soccer is not competitive because chess is competitive and soccer isn’t anything like chess.

EVE is just a very different game than your expectations were, apparently.

Maybe your own experience with PvP was those other games only, team-based arena sessions of shooters.

My own gaming history was different. My first MMO was Runescape and while that game too like EVE had a strong player-made exonomy part and a full loot drop on death mechanic, the game was largely PvP-free.

Largely, I say, because there was a region, the Wilderness, which had valuable ores like Runite (at the time the best ore in the game) and this zone was a PvP zone.

It was my favourite place, a full loot PvP zone where I could group up, fight players for loot, or mine valuable ore. The PvP gameplay of that game.

I spent a lot of time to get my combat skills and mining skill up to make full use of it all and had fun for years.

Eventually I got tired of the main focus of that game which seemed more and more to be just about grinding to obtain bigger numbers, and played many other games since.

Years later when I read about EVE my first thought was this:

Whoa, that game is just like the Wilderness I love in Runescape, except in EVE the entire game is the PvP area. Awesome!

And so my space adventure started of gathering valuable resources and fighting other players in a full loot PvP universe.

TL;DR: Yes EVE is a PvP game, just not like the PvP games you appear to be used to.

Looks over, and some people want some more content for the Expedition Frigates so they can use them more aggressively and take more risks.

Personally I would love to be an “Intruder Miner” but so many bits of content change have made the risks so high for most players refuse to take risks. I am willing to, but the problem is small time miners and intruder miners don’t get the same respect as the big boxer groups in any space.

There is some options in game now, but some of the expeditions can’t scan down this content. And the changes to mining has made some resources very difficult to sneak around and collect.

Its more frustrating for everyone to put the same label on all miners. Some just want to chill and build…they build your ammo and hulls etc. You need some people to do the “unglamorous” stuff.

what you create you also can delete…

than ragequit…no loss at all…

I find it really funny how your kind escalates if you get real opposition and arguments…all the snapping and simulated biting like old dogs that bark only because they have no teeth left.

No…

You are done and you know it…

But in your desperation and for your own sanity you actually HAVE to pretend to be tough while in reality having lost every argument to me…

It’s really sad to see how unable to face the reality to come for this game you are…so your only sane exits are flames and devaluation…

I really pity you…

All gankers in high will be a permban aspirant soon…

no…it never was and will never be…

NO!

I DON’T WANT ANY MINERS IN MY GAME.

I don’t want miners, and YOU CAN’T MAKE ME.

You can type all you want, but I say NO to miners.

NO! NO! NO!

Well that just shows you’ve missed the entire point of this thread. No, the PvP and other combat is not some fancy ‘add on’ to a mining game. The combat is the very thing that drives the entire market and makes it worthwhile for miners to mine. The game relies on ship loss in order for new ships to be made to replace them. The whole point of this thread was the hypocrisy of some miners who ‘hate PvP’ yet fail to grasp that their entire mining enterprise depends on it.

Some people have a complete lack of comprehension of how EVE actually works. And that is what leads to a resentment against the very thing that dives the economy.

Well…that’s a nonsense way of seeing EVE. There isn’t some day in EVE when you’ve suddenly ‘made it’ and make some quantum leap to success. Rather there’s a slow progression where you learn to cope at each level. I’ve been in EVE coming up on 5 years…and the fact that I am still learning, and discovering amazing ship fittings I’d never have even thought of a year ago, is why I still play. For me, its all been good…and the best days are yet to come.

I think what’s really funny is that Safety, which I am proud to now be a part of, has almost 80 trillion ISK in kills, 153,000 ships destroyed, whilst you have…erm…nothing.

And you fail to grasp that that means Safety has generated 80 trillion ISK worth of new ships being required and thus helped keep the economy going. And what have you done ?..other than whine all the time.

Miners are disgusting vermin, akin to rats or cockroaches and they need to be exterminated until not one of them remains.

Is the opposition in the room with us?

Miners dont want to believe this. They have this wild, insane and completely retarded fantasy that everyone is just going to keep buying things regardless of whether or not they lose things. Miners assume that (MI)ssion run(NERS) are going to just keep buying ships to do missions with. That their fellow disgusting miner will just stage a mackinaw in every system until the end of time.

They way I always see it is this: If humans didnt have to destroy and consume food to survive, I wonder how long grocery stores and farms would stay open for… But miners fail (possibly just refuse?) to grasp reality, or even acknowledge its existence, and prefer to live on fantasy island where we all just log in to buy ships and do nothing.

CCP already built the game these whinebear miners are looking for, its called Eve Echoes, and it died instantly with a good portion of the reason being due to a lack of pvp and ship destruction making mining beyond completely irrelevant, but they will never admit that. They will blame every other aspect of the game in a childish attempt to not acknowledge the importance of pvp and ship destruction in Eve.
