Yes, thatās what I thought, rapeseed flowers are quite disctintive even for urbanites like me. But as for what were they doing, I have no idea, I thought maybe they wer harvsting but they wouldnāt harvert with the flowers, also IIRC rapeseed fields look like red or pink before the harvest?

Snow cleaning rugs is done by letting the rug cool down to outdoor temperature, then cover it with snow and beat it with a broom so the snow drags away the dirt. Then the rug is overturned and the process is repeated to clean the other side; once clean, the rug is left to air dry from any moisture left behind from snow. This technique must be done when thereās freezing temperature outdoors and the rug is cold so the snow wonāt melt and cause water damage to the rug.

Iāve found that the only danger to rapeseed plants are slugs, which are present in eastern european countries in many species.
The people in the photo could be hunting for these animals, which, if not eradicated, would multiply disproportionately (in Estonia, in 1973, it was probably not easy to obtain chemical disinfestation).
