I now have a strange idea.
As life evolves with the changing environment, maybe it was the continental drift that was one of the factors that changed climate and environment and in effect the life came out of water. Gradually of course.
Devonian period is when the continents started to come together, and when the plants colonized the earth. Life started in oceans when there was spread of continents and water was still the best environment to live. As the shape of earth started changing, there may have been environments changing really fast when continents started coming together en masse. Maybe there were massive salt marshes where water level was alternating with tides caused by moon. Factor speeding up the evolution. Then in carboniferous period appeared animals that were feeding on the plants. In permian the land animals became considerably big, that was also the period when the marshes became scarcier.

My laptop can have a lot of screens, but I have only one monitor and I will use it because it takes less power and I cant see all thing at the same time anyway. I am not a spider to have 8 eyes.
