I’ve made some napkin calculations and maybe you could drive 40 or 50 kilometers a day with the solar cells you can pack on a car, assuming commercial solar cells and Tesla-like efficency…

That’s not a lot and I wonder how the maintenance cost of such a car compares to a petrol car but it does sound at least initially like an attractive concept.

I think it will have to use batteries that are more capable of power storage than just for 50 km, so the solar panels would just be there to prolong the time you can spent between loadings.
Entirely solar power capable car dont have a lot of power and need more area of those panels. And car would need to stay in a sunny spot all the day.
What can be done and how it could look if you would want to make it efficient:
40~50 miles per day. Maximum.
