Well a solution to making mining dramatically less profitable to multi-box is to attach a mini-game of sorts. Where for each mining cycle you need to do a few things to maximize your yield. If you don’t you get significantly less. And by varying the required steps enough you make a it real pain to bot.

And as the cherry on top, not playing the mini-game and just going for the minimum yield would have a downside. All that ore you could have got but didn’t is considered wasted by mishandling and thus the ore anomaly or belt is still depleted quite fast.

Would this piss off a bunch of people? Sure, but it would make it considerably less profitable to afk mine. Would still need to do something about nearly afk VNI ratting though.

I dont think mining is (or was) as much problem as ratting is. And you can bot ratting. Even missioning can be botted.

When I started the game i was reading how to set up bot so it will do missions. That was years ago tho. I never used any bot tho, I valued EVE more as a long term adventure when I started, RMT was out of question. And I was banned for two weeks in other game for exploits already and it hurt a bit as I was subscribed and money has gone to waste, no raids, no items, nothing… One of the reasons I started looking at other online games and I remember EVE looked fancy with new character creator and shiny spaceships and regular expansions. And planets were looking pretty after the updates. That was back in 2010.

I added the tampermonkey I think the next day after working out in JS how to change the images to the better quality ones. Stylish only allows custom CSS and what I needed was something that was able to handle JS so I went with making a User Script and using TamperMonkey.

I made some research on the japanese modding scene where there Ruiner gets ideas from and came with this violet scheme, with Pfister pink secondary highlights because Ish is a girl (and pink and violet match well). Then added the closest to the spinning emergency lights jap modders use:

Ish still can’t access the Shakotan exhausts… will need to think about them, they’re not as extreme as they get in Japan (neither the frontal splitter) but I’m undecided. The Ruiner looks really good now.

Also for some reason Ish stole a hardtop Peyote, I think she likes it better than the topless version…

The main issue with Null is that its safer than low sec and more profitable than low sec. The balance between risk and reward is not achieved and it looks like chinese players knew what to do from beginnig, they moved to Null on their server Serenity and PLEX was for Billions of ISK in result.

Maybe the fix would be to shift rewards from Null to Low? And from Low to Null.

Yeah cue the “must work hard for it, safety is relative, yadda yadda yadda” but the point is that the biggest & fattest carebears live in Null and they enjoy a degree of safety unworkable elsewhere. In highsec there’s no intel channel forewarning of danger incoming 15 jumps away.

I’ve said many times my point that the Rubicon Plan was a wrong decission taken with wrong information. And here we are, PCU is below last year’s in the same dates. As every time since Crucible, there’s a white knight excuse for it: player sesions are shorter now and that drives concurrency down even if unique logins are equal or higher. And before was Fozziesov and before the banning of iSBox and before… but the point is, EVE was growing even after Incarna, and up until CCP Seagull had her vision of space colonization.

That vision isn’t working, despite how CCP is compromised to it for years still to come. This perception is what may be costing sleep nights to the people involved.
