One whole day without network access. It was rather pleasing. I did miss liking posts but knew I could make up for it.

Not really, our lineages split 325 million years ago

Still a way to get free plex thanks to Amazon and another piece of the duotic?
puzzle… still needs a credit card for verification though… so… :aussieparrot:

Although it is still cheaper to buy the $15 sub instead of plex

So… do any other Microsoft computer users use the Rewards?

The one thing that needs a picture just gave a link, who even recognizes bing…

I’d insert cat face but safe mode :weary::weary::weary:

Defragging… took 2 days and still not 100%, cursed ntfs… I miss Ext4… but hey, NTFS bunches stuff together for speed, but frags like a :open_mouth: oh well…

Also cleaned my registry, let’s see how long it takes me to blue screen, my record is 30 minutes

It’s not the file system that’s the problem, it’s Windows’ file system management.
It’ll cramp it all into the first free space it finds and keeps doing that until the whole file is written, which means a shitload of fragmentation on a normally used system.

A more intelligent file system management, implemented by every kernel that isn’t Windows’, is to first look for a free space segment big enough to write the entire file in in one go.

Fragmentation results in the opposite of speed… They probably did it on purpose, as it will slow the PC down more and more over time, enticing the common consumer drone to buy a new PC with a new Windows license.

The bunching bit was more of a continuous line, keeping things closest to each other and at the fastest part of the disk. All good as long as you don’t delete anything, but then that’s a bit silly/.

I wonder how it handles ReFS though, it doesn’t let me monitor it any, mainly because a user isn’t exactly supposed to be using (not officially released) it but hey, it came with the eHDD and is very nice.

Hm… Windows… glass… fragile… fragments…

Like a bad joke, ā€œWindows stay solid until you throw stuff at it, then they fragment and are also easily broken. You won’t see a penguin fragment, or even an apple, unless they get filled up too much, then get an umbrellaā€

Ah the struggle and juggle… Windows is a pain but it has great game compatibility and ease of use. Linux is customizable and open but… wine only goes so far… and UEFI troubles. Dual boot, didn’t last long, Windows started to corrupt and threw a fit  and same with Ubuntu.

Looking forward to the fall creators update, Ubuntu as an app.

And as final note… I made it a lot worse :stuck_out_tongue: Yay!
