Its game from 2004 and the graphics were overhauled few times, but WoW and Warcraft games in general never strived for photorealism, as it looks even worse with time, when you compare graphics striving for photorealism from 2004 and 2017.
Meanwhile WoW always looked nearly the same.
The todays ingame models look great compared to the old ones, it does look outdated in many places of the old world, but it works, its the style of the game and allows weak pcs to run it to a certain degree, because most games nowadays only care about graphics, graphics look good to look at, but a burden if your pc runs like a potato, so Blizzard pleases everyone in WoW for having a cartoony look to it.
But your right, it is outdated, we should just all play something recent that looks really great

Fantasy and cartoony is somewhat established combo.
I dont know how would HoMM3 or AOW took the burden of time without it being cartoony.
I heavily apreciate how Overwatch looks cool and cartoony as well, and it helps how the characters pop out of the enviroment to help you detect them
I appreciate how Team Fortress 2 looks cartoony. My favorite class is the sniper. I love his looks and his Australian accent. What I wouldnât give to trade my American accent with an Australian one. 
I dont RP by bumping ships, thats for sure.
From all the english accents, this american one is the most comprehensible I think.
Think the sniper video with verbose is gone, so have one with the medic instead

Beautiful graphics are beautiful no matter what the style. I just find WoW ugly. Specially the characters, Iâve never seen a beautiful WoW character rendered with engine graphics.
So itâs not about realism vs cartoony.
Beautiful characters? I dont think WoW is about being beautiful.
But big nosed corpulent dwarf can be pretty in its own way.

Think this is more of a âI like salmonâ versus âI hate salmonâ thing, I find the style amazing for how they have done it to look good for both high and low end pcs, and each expansion where they improve models and stuff just end up improving it.
