Actually think it’s meant to work like this since apparently you can restore deleted posts under some circumstances.

but more importantly it means post count sniping can be gamed, like bumping the roullette table

Since the URL is the only static counter I think it should be the one that counts lest someone gets post nr 2001 and then goes and deletes a previous post to make himself 2000
