Doesn’t really surprise me…
Huh… in other news, chemicals have an effect on a wide range of complex chemical processes?
They even hint at it when they talk about the alterations to membrane functions. Yeah. Having sensitive membranes enveloping extremely complex cells is a sign of intelligence and will.
Bullshitometer: 3/10.
Me to, I once read that plants have nervous system, but its non-centralized or something like that.
The range seems to be too short for a flamethrower, its actually a blowtorch, but maybe good for frying cutlets?
Timezone everyone /
Good morning LAGLers! The sun is close to me!
Memo to self: if I ever attempt to rule the CCP forums, I shall make sure that my spouse doesn’t haves a habit to ramble deliriously on video after fasting for 9 days.
Just remembered this scene. A masterful sequence of elliptic narration.
Context: a massive fire is raging at an oil field and four truckers volunteer to transport poorly preserved, unstable nitroglycerin to extinguish it. The most veteran crew goes first, and a second crew follows two kilometers apart.
Couldn’t find subtitles and my French is poor, but IIRC the blonde man, a German expat and deserter, is talking about his plans after they receive the massive reward for the transport (a brand new truck), and how he plans to retire since his family haves a “nasty habit” of dying young (we can guess that his relatives died as soldiers during WW2). Then the camera switches to the second truck and…
Also: same story, told years later by American film.
This, boys, was filmed in reality. That was 1977 by experts, so no CGI, no scale models, but actual trucks on an actual bridge. The film crew had to rescue from the river two trucks who tipped over and fell off the bridge while filming this sequence.
Not kidding. A spanish woman called Hermenegilda Trinitaria recently got her driver license at 84 years old on her first attempt, and that made the news. A few days later (yesterday), she has ditched her car down a ravine. She’s not hurt, but oh the irony…
Mrs. Trinitaria’s husband died months ago and since they lived in an isolated town, she has been having trouble to move around, so she decided to get a driver license to use her husband’s car. The brave old lady succeeded on her first attempt, but it all has kinda crashed now…
Its a lot easier actually than in film, one only have to get one of those:
So, that is what I really look like?
I dont know.
They say that every human on earth have his/her look-alike.
And some days, you just are demonstrating your authonomous driving car and it crashes live on camera…
TechChrunch were riding the car interviewing the CEO of Phantom AI and then a truck ahead of them lost a package. The car behind the truck braked to full stop and the AI car didn’t brake as the autobrake system was shut down to avoid spoiling the demonstration with false alarms. The driver eventually noticed that the AI wasn’t reacting and hit the brakes, slowing from 90 to 30 km/h so the crash wasn’t severe… but the impact on Phantom AI’s image certainy is unforgettable.
I think this only demonstrates that people cant be trusted to operate cars with AI if they will be able to turn off some important function, and its better to leave AI turned on like it was designed by people who know what can happen on the road.
Someone knows what it can be? Someone found it in old box. Police and army dont know what it is.
These have 30 cm length and diameter is 6 cm.
What are they made off? Glass? Plastic? Other?
I can tell you that it’s nothing good and the government should dispose of it.
But, those vials hold about 800 cc of whatever is inside… those are some large vials!
Glass, its yellow liquid inside.
It looks like its very old. I wonder why its not just with a screw cap.
Spectrophotometry would probably be usefull with that.
