The Oz for CSM 20 - Independent, proven, economy expert

I’ve love to either serve with Oz, or have Oz represent me in CSM20

The EVE economy is an often overlooked but critical infrastructure that supports the entire swathe of content and playstles that makes up the game. Oz was a diligent CSM member during the last year who’s almost sole focus is on the health of the EVE economy, and I look forward to him getting elected for CSM20

Some might sell some, I use a lot in my industry.

Sure, I sell them too. Once a year they are a “free” several billion ISK. But as said: maybe it would be better for the game if those Datacores purely came from Hacking Sites, and not from a non-attention-no-effort background activity that mostly vets will have skilled into.

datacores mostly come from fw lp stores, thats the reason data sites are so bad and those agents are terrible isk.
I’d rather they where removed from fw so the activities i personally do are worth more

I hope not, I’m shite at scanning lol.

Having Oz on the CSM has been extremely beneficial. He’s not only a pleasure to work with but cares deeply about the state of the game.

I’ve been lucky enough to have a chat with him about his candidency plans for CSM20. If you’d like to have a listen, here’s his interview.

Oz is a subject matter expert - his understanding of the eve economy, and also proven track record of engagement from player to dev is outstanding - articulate, reasoned, passionate - exactly what you want a CSM to be. Gets my vote!

Thank you for your questions. Here are my answers:

  1. Hundreds. Example: I would remove the Hypernet as I see it as a huge negative compared to the few benfits it brings. I see it as predatory monetization of people with low impulse control.
  2. The state of the money supply in the past year after I helped stabilize it is actually good. Faucets are under control and sinks are in a good place.
  3. I see it as one small problem among many, to be honest. Unfortunately, EVE today has too many tedious busy tasks that provide rewards with very little content. Sure, they could be fixed, but missions in general are due for an overhaul in my opionion.
  4. You basically quoted me from my show, so there you go. I think CCP overdid it with the new sites. They should be dialed back a bit.

This is actually a somehow super controversial take and I seriously applaud you for standing up with it.

Hello The Oz, first of all good luck with your campaign :flexed_biceps: …and may the best will win ofc :sports_medal:
(I will great every candidate this way  )

Hope you find time to share your thoughts on below topics and game ideas.

1. EVE Vanguard
Have you had an occasion to try it during Operation Nemesis or earlier? What was your impression if any?

What do you think about bidirectional connection planned with EVE Online? Do you see it has a potential to attract more players towards New Eden? And do you think Capsuleers will benefit from it?

2. Information & ISK itemization
How about being able to take a notes from your notepad and put it as an item into container or ship cargo? Same with an amount of ISK? Just like you can do with PLEX.

More details https://forums.eveonline.com/t/information-itemization-put-notes-into-cargo-containers

Would you pitch CCP to consider implementing it?

3. Production Plans
Basically the idea behind this is to bundle all the BPOs (BPCs), required to produce some final product, say, an assembled Drake fully fitted according to some saved fit ready for duty, into a single BPO-like item, and internally arranged into an intricate production workflow. Complete with logistics tasks, if necessary, using delivery corp projects. It could use BPMN diagram editor to arrange.

When installed into industrial job slot it will churn out those Drakes, provided there are required materials in linked containers or pause until they are become available again.

Would you pitch CCP to consider implementing it? Or at least expand ESI to allow 3rd party developers to do it?

Hi Elinore,
I am going to be completely honest with you, while I think your proposals are sound and interesting, the lack of interaction and replies on those threads you link shows that the player base isn’t all that excited about them. I think we have much larger issues to solve at the moment than these, so I would be careful to ask CCP to spend the little dev time they have. I hope you understand.

Regarding Vanguard, I think that the FPS genre is incredibly competitive and it is very unlikely that Vaguard will be able to grab a significant share of that market. I wish the team all the best and hope that it will draw in new players to EVE, but I don’t see realistic chances. I saw Operation Nemesis as a nice little niche gimmick, nothing more.

Thx for taking time to respond and not discarding those right away, or you are just too polite to do so publicly?

I don’t think much of the players look into EVE Technology and Research Center > Player Features & Ideas or Council Of Stellar Management > Assembly Hall especially the industrialists who are busy running all those jobs one by one by hand

The responses so far, I admit not many, were rather in favor. There was one CSM candidate defending the tedium involved with complex BPOs click-fest as a virtue to cherish and not as a legacy, outdated mechanics to be replaced with something modern

The others mostly voiced their (legitimate) market/power balance concerns.

OZ For CSM! He is good at what he does. I love his market data analysis videos. Oz is a great dude and i can see that he is with a good intentions.
No matter what side you choose - there will be always someone who is against what you do. That’s the human nature.

Oh. You that person who destroy one of my incomes! My lovely Capital aegis sites in lowsec and covert research sites.

Greetings, Oz.

I appreciate your work, enjoying your YouTube posts regularly and also making use of your creator code.

Please respond to the following intentionally vague statements:
1.) CCP dishonors the sandbox by coraling players into lawlessness.
2) The resurrected Bounty System, without repercussions to participants, is hostility towards players.
3) Daily goals killed game play.

On behalf of my corp mates and associates, we wish you the best with your campaign.

Thank you.

1.) I don’t agree that CCP is doing that.
2.) Are you talking about freelance jobs? Sorry, I don’t understand.
3.) I am not a fan of login rewards and daily goals. I think it is manipulative. I prefer devs making a good game over trying to trick people into logging in via FOMO. Obviously you are exaggerating here, but yeah I don’t think they help.

Even worse. Often players can’t (or better: won’t) take part in corp- or alliance-content “because they need to do the dailies first!” - on ALL of their thirteendozen chars. Which leads to the horrible scenario of having 10 people in Voicechat and all of them are doing stupid repetitive stuff out of the fear to miss the rewards (mainly the SP progress). And in the end nothing meaningful does happen, everyone is just re-scanning the same sigs or doing the same jumps with one char after the other.
