Information itemization - put notes into cargo/containers

I would like to be able to open my notepad, write a note - with instructions or bookmarks or Skill plans or secrets or a poem and put it as a page item into ship cargo or containers:

Note Item

I like to pack things in containers for contracts and it would be extra handy for the buyer to find some sort of manual on how to use bought items later.

It should always survive ship destruction and be 100% salvageable so whomever finds the wreck will read the note:
“I’ll get you, watch your 6”

it’s different from rage mail or direct message, it’s more visceral and personal despite being more pixels on the screen.

It could have other uses too:

  • Geocacheing but in space
  • Or luring others into a trap by placing bookmarks to other cans containing similar notes.
  • Or a readme file for corp station container/hangar for everyone to see, e.g. with code of conduct written down.

Should I mention a form of ACL management? Read/Write/Copy/Delete should do, right? With default Read to Public.

and If you add ISK itemization, just like you can do with PLEX, one could make welcome/reward container packs/crates for corp members with equipment, corp SKINs, ISK and a welcome note. Or a geocache with ISK inside.

Why this if PLEX itemization is a thing? Well, you first need to sell PLEX, just like any other valuable that would happen to be inside a geocache or welcome/reward pack. Plain, anonymous ISK in a can or wreck would be just pure convenience.

Sure. Not sure how involved this would be to implement an editable item, though. Let the scavenger hunt begin!

Why not? edited in response to above edit

It actually used to be you could itemize bookmarks and edit them, and folks used them for “passing notes” purposes. So somewhere buried in a pile of bugs and decay the code exists.

CCP Rattati, in a recent Dev Blog for “Global PLEX Market” said (@00:25:49) they can now have “infinite” number of item ID’s.

So, technically every stack we split/re-stack, already creates a unique “container” ID which contains specific quantity of a specific item type. It could work for a stack of itemized ISK (Type ID: 52996 https://everef.net/types/52996), to make them anonymous, or disowned, for a while.
It could work for special information items.

Plz, New Eden needs it

You know you can name your containers?

There you go, issue solved. @ISD_Kai can relock this useless thread that never should have been reopened.

yh, i name my containers, like “Stay chill”. Guess what’s inside

How many letters can you put in the name and it will be useful? Can you describe a sequence of actions this way? Guess not… problem not solved yet.

Why you ping ISD volunteers? If you have issue with my thread, flag it.

Your failure to figure out an organizational naming theme you can understand is not CCP’s issue to resolve. Rub those two brain cells together harder, and you might get a spark of an idea.

It’s not meant for me, I told you already I name my containers. And yes I know of evemail, to spare you trouble punching more holes. Not everybody likes to be contacted unsolicited after accepting the contract to get more instructions. Have you heard of CSPA? It could cost you more to contact your customer than the deal you’ve just got lol. And have you red the OP at all?

Okay.

So you’re adding an extra, entirely unnecessary and useless step in the contracting process, and you need CCP to code in stuff because you’re wasting time and effort.

Again, that’s all on you, dude. I guarantee your customer doesn’t care about those containers, and they just get trashed. Try not wasting everyone’s time.

To all who voiced their concern of the notes spamming space as means of mass advertising - let it cost 1 ISK to itemize a note, and upon recycling it you get 1 ISK back.

It seems small but I know from IRL this system works - plastic/glass bottles and cans re-fund recycling systems.

sadly thread get hijacked..

But what if we just added a note tab to a container’s show info window…?

Adding a “corps manual” to an on-boarding pack might be something corps would use.

an interesting “tool’ concept.

You mean the Evemail that’s sent out to every new member of a corp, and that you can make say pretty much anything you want?
