The universal solution to more player population, would be reducing the price of subs/PLEX.
Everyone likes a cheaper game.
Its very hard to argue that wouldnt lead to more players.
I dont think EVE needs that yet though.
Just putting it out there to give some perspective on how player attraction/retention is a far wider issue than just ingame content.

Don’t know about the person you’re replying to, but I like EVE because it’s a welcome change from WoW.
Here, there are no quests one has to do to progress (and it would appear that the Horde is being set up to be the mustache-twirling villains in the next expansion) and one is not made to be the singular Hero (one of millions and I’m not sure how one can be a “hero” given some of the writing).
EVE has flaws, WoW has flaws, but the biggest flaw is to try and think EVE would be better if it was like WoW.
He is trolling people. I mean … it is either that or he completely identifies with the masses, which makes any response a complete waste of time. To be fair though, this applies to absolutely most responses to most people anyway.

Bigger issue, is the population actually declining? It’s down from the old days but over the last 6 months to a year it seems pretty stable.

We dont have the data to differentiate between alts and players.
I’m encouraged by the data we do have, and the parallel drop in PLEX price.
Could be caused by any number of things, but imo, when boiled down, it suggests EVE is in a pretty good place atm.
Lot of very severe/traumatic changes in the recent past.
Seems they have evened out somewhat, and homeostasis is returning.
Everything you take as a part you want changed / or is bad; is what makes the game for me, and I would believe, many others. This is not the game for you, it seems.
Seriously, some of you should go back to school. In the meantime google the word “OR” and read its definition.

If you think WoW does it better, go play that instead.

CCP themselves state that Eve ISN’T for everyone, so why would they market it that way?

This is the prevalent attitude on these forums and is generally characteristic of EVE players. Good luck changing that.
Whether or not that is through programming or because they genuinely dislike WoW and prefer EVE is another matter however, and not something you can make blanket statements about.
I will say for the 4 years that I played WoW, I don’t remember anyone giving a rats arse about EVE, so I do find it somewhat surprising that many EVE players seem a little obsessed with WoW and have an odd, self validating, superiority confirming, ego massaging need to hold themselves above it.
But then again, Battlefield and CoD players have always done that, each needing to believe that their particular brand of choice is superior to the other.
Personally, I play what I play, I like what I like.
The above posturing is all nonsense to me.
It’s okay for people to dislike WoW and prefer EVE and vice versa.
Considering where we are currently posting, it’s especially okay for people to prefer EVE to WoW. There is nothing wrong with this. They are not doing something wrong that needs correcting as you seem to suggest.
You seem surprised to encounter people fiercely defensive of EVE when posting on the EVE forums.
You will get as far here as you will if you go onto a Justin Bieber fanpage and try to convince them that he isn’t a very good artist. As much as I might feel ill for merely having typed his name (forgive me Father for I have sinned) if they like him, they like him. I do not need to correct their musical tastes. Likewise, you do not need to correct the gaming tastes of anyone here. As with dear old Justin who I simply do not listen to, if EVE is not for you, you simply need not play it.
Hating is not needed.
And yet as illustrated above, you are the hater in this scenario. You frequently have nothing good to say about a game that you don’t need to play on a forum you don’t need to post on.
This has now evolved into a bizarre conspiracy theory that everyone who plays EVE has been brainwashed into hating WoW by the evil mind control experts at CCP HQ.

Analogies, in general (if you can handle the use of that word) are for children. By which I mean, USED BY children. Especially the very long, and very laborious analogies used by you. In which you use multiple paragraphs to say the same thing. The fact that you use a Justin Beiber analogy compounds this because he’s a childish figure. One, I’m sure, that you can assume children would be familiar with. Or (there’s that word again) maybe one you are very familiar with despite your “posturing”.
