we are just a group of old vets playing eve and our thing is mining and industry. we have been doing our thing for years and years and adapted to many game changes

except learning how to defend yourselves against a single ship in hisec ? Is the cost of not mining with one of the ships too high for you ? You don’t have a neutral alt who can scout, or scan his ship, get intel ? You call yourself an EvE vet ? In that case we’re all alts of Adrian.

I mostly know what I need to know about it for my playstyle. Turn auto target/shoot back off, stay away from yellow cans and wrecks, don’t shoot at anyone who hasn’t already shot you first. Since I’m not a ganker or pvper I’ve really only needed to know how to keep myself from being killed by other players, or by npcs.

There is plenty about eve that I don’t know about because there are several aspects of eve I’ve never explored. Ice mining, mining in general, and faction war are examples.

I run missions when I want standing or loyalty points(or to rp actually being in Caldari navy). I run combat, data, and relic sites. I used to hang out in WH space and run sleeper sites. That was back before the drake nerf but I want to get back into that again. I do stuff that I dig and sell the loot and salvage. The cheap stuff I reproc and then sell the minerals.

Fun fact: I was around long enough to have gotten a luxury yacht and to complain when they removed ship spinning. I was playing before the pilots license extension even existed. I remember the big outcry against microtransactions(70$ monocle) and the fear that introducing them would lead us down the wrong path.

like how did you kill this full shield and hull tank Orca with a nereus? eve if you attacked it with a battleship and then switched, the passive shield alone would have kept it alive against the nereus. or is that an alt of yours and you self-destructed while in duel with yourself just for the kill?

Yeah…maybe insulting other people for not knowing mechanics / EvE stuff when you yourself evidently don’t know what faction points are, think folk are “ganking” skiffs with Gilas and Orcas with Nereus, etc. etc. etc. might not be such a great idea eh?

Deployed drones don’t appear on killmails. And since the only offensive items typically fit to mining ships are drones, it’s reasonable to conclude that they were indeed armed with drones, which were deployed at the time of death, which resulted in the KM’s your referencing. And, of course, since they did have offensive capabilities, they would have been able to pick up a limited engagement timer with him when he suspect baited them.

Nope. You do me too much honor, sir. I wanted to be Spartacus or at least king of Iceland (still working on that).
But I DO suspect it involves something called an F1. And I ASSUME that the Orca was afk’ing. And amazing how much ammo you can pack into a Nereus - or ice and ore.

Earlier on in this thread OP told me that his group used to be able to afk mine for hours. As far as I’m concerned, popping afk players is doing the lords work.

With Max skills that thing passive reps about 70ehp/s. If you look up his nerus fit, it does more than 70dps so, hours of time shooting and AFK orca = dead orca.
