ThePuce Moose for CSM20 - PvP and Systems Reworks

Thanks! Looking forward to hyper-focusing on CSM instead of tournament scrims :stuck_out_tongue:

What are your thoughts on the situation in high-sec?

I’ve known puce for about a year and a half, and in that time I have come to understand they are one of the only people that not only plays the game, but truly understands and knows what to do to keep it alive. As the 4th best host of untethered, they are exceptionally good at formulating and presenting their ideas, and I’ve seen them discuss and defend them exceptionally with all manner of people.

As their alliance-mate, I’ve had the pleasure of discussing a variety of things with them and its clear that they really do care for the health of the game; not just their alliances ventures, or even their 23,000 best friends’ gameplay styles.

Top bloke, solid person I’d like to see on the CSM.

Which situation are you referring to?

Hello ThePuce Moose, first of all good luck with your campaign :flexed_biceps: …and may the best will win ofc :sports_medal:
(I will great every candidate this way  )

Hope you find time to share your thoughts on below topics and game ideas.

1. EVE Vanguard
Have you had an occasion to try it during Operation Nemesis or earlier? What was your impression if any?

What do you think about bidirectional connection planned with EVE Online? Do you see it has a potential to attract more players towards New Eden? And do you think Capsuleers will benefit from it?

2. Information & ISK itemization
How about being able to take a notes from your notepad and put it as an item into container or ship cargo? Same with an amount of ISK? Just like you can do with PLEX.

More details https://forums.eveonline.com/t/information-itemization-put-notes-into-cargo-containers

Would you pitch CCP to consider implementing it?

3. Production Plans
Basically the idea behind this is to bundle all the BPOs (BPCs), required to produce some final product, say, an assembled Drake fully fitted according to some saved fit ready for duty, into a single BPO-like item, and internally arranged into an intricate production workflow. Complete with logistics tasks, if necessary, using delivery corp projects. It could use BPMN diagram editor to arrange.

When installed into industrial job slot it will churn out those Drakes, provided there are required materials in linked containers or pause until they are become available again.

Would you pitch CCP to consider implementing it? Or at least expand ESI to allow 3rd party developers to do it?

The non-stop ganking of everything.

Its a non-issue

Hi!

I played Vanguard itself a couple of times during the event, but didn’t have the chance to run any of the convoys in EVE. Their frequency, distance from me and low reward didn’t really incentivise me to chase them.
I’d love to see a more meaningful connection to Vanguard (appreciate that Convoys was just a test), but I think it will be difficult for CCP to achieve this without each game overly affecting the other. It’s a balancing act to make the connection meaningful without making it frustrating/broken.

On attracting new players, perhaps. I currently feel that the flow will mostly be the other way, EVE players playing Vanguard. If CCP is successful in marketing Vanguard to a wide audience we might get some new players in.

Will Capsuleers benefit? I don’t think there is enough information about the connection to make a call at the moment.

This is a fun idea that I would put forward, but I don’t think its worth the dev time it would take in the current state of the game. There’s high potential for abuse here by writing awful stuff, and CCP would have to have some way to filter that. There’s already a few opportunities for leaving notes e.g. naming a can.

ISK items - does PLEX not already fill this niche? Its not direct, sure, but with the global PLEX market it is pretty close.

I think this might be too much simplification, and I think it could have some heavy impact on the economy and spread of people manufacturing items. Its something I would ask devs/fellow CSM about, as I don’t think I’m best suited to answer this.

Thanks for the questions

I think this platform is near to my interest and pretty well-focused.

One thing that I feel is a bit lacking in the game is the criminal content outside of ganking. Not even strictly PvP, though using PvE criminality to encourage PvP would be welcome. Things like smuggling, scavenging, burglary. Trespassing of a sort is already covered by the suspect timer when I enter a FW Plex as a neutral, so I like that touch.

My question is: do you have any thoughts on the current suspect/criminal flag system, or on the expansion of criminal activities in HS/LS to fuel smaller, faster engagements?

That is very hyperbolic.
Both data from killmails and simple experience of flying through Hisec shows that “ganking of everything” isn’t “non-stop”.

I do not think any space should ever be perfectly safe!

Hi

As you seem to be PVP Focused, what are your thoughts about returning the Abyssal Arena, also known as Proving Grounds?

I did not do them very often, but these events were solid for quick content if you didn’t have the time to roam for a long time.

What do you mean with that? Are these the clone stations or HQ of Alliances?

I am all for enhancing PvE to encourage PvP! Activities that get people out in space and ready to fight are incredibly important.

I haven’t thought about it in that context, but a crime-based PvE site that potentially gives a higher reward at higher risk (getting suspect timer) actually sounds pretty cool. I’ve added that to my list of subjects to think on!

Hi!

I am against instanced content in EVE.
I believe there may be a place for a Proving Grounds style introduction to PvP for new players, but past that I am against it.
Instanced PvP reduces the number of people in space and looking for fights in the sandbox. Lack of quick, accessible PvP in EVE is a game health issue that needs to be addressed on a wide scale, bringing solo and smallgang playstyles back into popularity. Instanced PvP is a band-aid, that actively worsens the larger issue.

By moving home stations, I mean shifting your assets to a new staging. Ideas for that include a larger Carrier SMB and a T2 jump-drive Bowhead.

Puce has a lot of fantastic ideas and is willing to actually work through his reasoning and criticially think. Will be a fantastic CSM candidate for the game.

More than ever, people need to vote for a candidate that is working for the benefit of Eve as a whole, rather than a candidate who pretends that just their own area of space can be balanced in a vacuum. Puce is the right guy.
