People are talking like this hypercore/node thing is a lootbox. But its not though.
Iโve tried it in the sisi. Its just an item similar to casino token. In other word, its for players to turn their citadel into casino. U buy the core, put it in market, and then make some awesome raffles, people come and gamble, at your citadel.
Yes. its about gambling and turning players into payers, HyperNode links will be available in game store, same as PLEX that will allow problem gamblers to spent even real money to gamble. Probability of people developing gambling habit and then addiction greatly increases with each method of gambling you are exposed to in the game. And you will probably see people advertising their raffles.
Because itโs like Incarna. People are crying out for improvement to the game and make it better to fly spaceships in space, but CCP are only concerned with putting out MTX shyte again letting it act as a lightning rod for peopleโs discontent. And white knights riding out to defend it with all the same arguments again. Time is a flat circle.
Confirming that my vote FOR the Hype Net is counted. +1 For it.
I like it, I love it, and I want some more of it!
Huh!
Gimme One 10 pack of hyper cores pleez.
And a pack of skittles.
It just occured to me that CCP isnโt setting the gamble. Theyโre providing the mean to set up the gamble, but players are not gambling against CCP.
Theโyre like the guy who sells slot machines, rather than the casino. I wonder if this is considered gambling tooโฆ
raffler assigns item to HyperCore(s) and a number of HyperNodes (raffle tickets) and a ISK price tag per HyperNode
if all HyperNodes are sold, the server picks a HyperNode and transfers the prize to the winner
if some HyperNodes arenโt sold by the end of the raffle, raffler gets his item back, players get their iSK back and the HyperCore is consumed (at least this is how it works at Sisi)
CCPโs role is to provide the HyperCore(s) and pick the winner, but the raffle is set up by the guy who uses the HyperCore(s). Anyone who buys a HyperNode isnโt gambling against CCP, but against the guy who sets the raffle.
Itโs as if a game allowed players to turn a item into a lootbox and raffle it, with the game picking a winner and getting a microtransaction from the creation of the lootbox but not from the raffle itself.
Lootboxes eventually turned into an isssue when companies
started selling them with random contents, turning it into gambling.
The difference is that with raffles everyone has a fair chance of getting the item they want โฆ
โฆ while with randomized lootboxes you didnโt even know if the item you wanted was in it.
Thatโs why randomized lootboxes are a scam โฆ
โฆ and should be forbidden for a lot more than this one reason โฆ
โฆ while raffles arenโt.
A game of chance is a game whose outcome is strongly influenced by some randomizing device, and upon which contestants may choose to wager money or anything of monetary value. Common devices used include dice, spinning tops, playing cards, roulette wheels, or numbered balls drawn from a container.
Alternatively, a game of skill is one where the outcome is determined mainly by mental or physical skill, rather than chance.[1]
While a game of chance may have some skill element to it, chance generally plays a greater role in determining its outcome. A game of skill may also may have elements of chance, but skill plays a greater role in determining its outcome.
Any game of chance that involves anything of monetary value is gambling.
So when it isnt technically CCP running raffles, they are adding the system to the game, the game they host on servers, so are enablers and facilitators like the players who will buy the HyperCores. They still take money off of players for using that system, because HyperCores are bought for PLEX, and PLEX comes from people spending real money in CCP shop.
Its still gambling no matter who enables and makes money off of it. And CCP is cassino owner in this case, the tables for hire where dealers will pay upkeep to CCP, using gambling as mechanic to make money.
Yes, itโs a game of chance, but CCP isnโt conducting the game. They provide a mean (like a slot machine) and pick the winner (which can be done via an API call to a reputable RNG source), but the player isnโt gambing with or against CCP.
Letโs say youโre a retirement home and you rent a bingo machine to the residents. Then they set up a bingo game. Are you, the retirement home, gambling? You just got some money by providing a gambling device, but the ones gambling are the residents.
The fact is the cassino builder have set up the machines and tables in this case. They are still participants as gambling side and game providers. The game is conducted by CCP and they are owning machines (like servers and code), they take profits and no amount of third party brokerage will muddle it up. Its like you would argue about your dealers in cassino not being you so you dont deal in gambling owning the site and hiring them, or having them do that for free. Its like someone hiring murderer to do that for you, because you are afraid of being catched.
As for law, its always behind people who are constantly developing new cons. They may earn a year or two maybe until law catches up if it didnt yet in some countries.
Exactly my view. Itโs not the raffle itself, itโs the fact you have to spend real money to utilize it. Granted it seems only the person posting a raffle has to shell out that money, but stillโฆitโs just shady to me.
Itโs a CCP cash grab. Players donโt need CCP intervention for this to be a thing. Just give them the tools to make it a thing and the players will use itโฆlike everything else in this game.
