Training Booster Megathread

I’m pretty sure I can’t advertise other games in here. Otherwise, I’d already list a few.

But it depends on what aspects of eve you enjoy. Nothing is completely like eve (obviously), but there are alternatives with slight variations. So you try one that highlights the aspects you like the most about eve.

yes you can, i did it at least 4 times

edit:

I think one of the games currently closest resembling EVE, is probably Albion Online.

Otherwise, it really depends if you like more the sandbox/building aspects, full-loot or player-driven economy parts.

prefer ships to fantasy but i will try … my point always was , if EVE is the BEST there is in the space mmorpgs genre , you cant do much about it , even wen it suck

If people think EVE is the best, then they’ll continue to give CCP money. This reinforces the notion that the changes CCP are making are positive. If the majority agrees with the changes (i.e. votes in agreement by giving CCP money), aren’t these changes actually correct? Thus putting CCP in the right and you, the individual, in the wrong?

Yet, if EVE is truly dying and this change is what puts it over the line. Then why continue playing, if one dislikes every minute spent in EVE? Why not find a game you actually enjoy? Do people love self harm?

This is my whole point. I don’t argue for or against this change. I’m just telling people, that continuously giving CCP money, when you’re against the changes made, isn’t how you make a company re-evaluate their changes. My main goal is to make people stop posting these useless rant threads and instead just silently leave, so we can spend more time on shitposting. However if this “truly” is the wrong path, shoving money into CCPs face when they make bad changes, isn’t going to result in a better game.

I am wondering, did I somehow miss all the outrage over the alpha daily injectors?

Forum raging is a legitimate hobby.

True. Some players even have “Salt” as part of their names.

No, because correlation does not necessarily imply causation.

They are correct in the markets eyes. At least not bad enough to change consumption patterns.

If they are not bad enough, then eve is not dying. The sky is not falling and everyone can relax.

If Mike thinks it’s bad, it’s bad.

#EndOfStory

Mike thinks more exposure to new players may improve player retention, while the game still has an awful NPE experience. Mike is wrong.

Y = DH + NP*r - BV

Y: Playerbase
DH: Diehards that keep playing
NP: New Players
r: retention rate
BV: Bittervets that leave forever

You can increase NP or r. Either one will work. It might seem like fixing the retention rate would be easier than getting a similar increase in new players - but CCP doesn’t know how to fix the New Player Experience.

If they don’t know how to improve their product, they’re incompetent. My whole point is, why are we feeding money into a company we believe to be incompetent, if these changes are bad?

Our individual perception of bad or good doesn’t matter. The market will judge.

The world is mostly full of incompetence. If I want to participate in anything then I have to accept it. Yes, CCP is obviously very incompetent. Look at all of their failed projects, all funded by the largess of the Eve playebase, with nothing to show for it.

I know that I am not the only person here who thinks that this outrage over the new Skill Boost MTX is way out of proportion and a lot of people truly do not understand what pay-to-win (P2W) means.

First and foremost those people really need to understand: pay-to-win is not the same as paying to skip. P2W would be like being able to outright buy a T2 Battleship fully fitted with the best T2 modules, all of which would be instantly replaced on death, with the skills to fly it right out of the gate. This presents a clear advantage because you not only skipped the amount of time necessary to train up those skills, but you also skipped over the in-game currency hurdle of needing to buy the ship and outfit it with the modules you need. At that point you only need to worry about the time it takes to get back into a fight, not how much ISK you need to spend. All of this would have been bought with real money - hence the term, pay-to-win.

What this new bundle does is effectively cut a huge corner out of the time you’re spending to get new skills to be able to fly the ship you want with the fitting you need for it. While with the Booster you get assistance in training even more skills as quick as possible, in the end you still have to figure out how to fund your new ships if you’re not buying PLEX.

Honestly it’s no different then buying 2 PLEXes to use 3/4 Skill Injectors, except maybe the fact that you’re buying it directly from CCP rather than taking another pilot’s skill injection. For new players it’s an option to get a headstart on enjoying this game. For veterans it’s just an opportunity to push out the last few skills you need to fit those T2 modules you need.

I honestly do not see what the problem is other than that it’s an optional microtransaction.

How many identical threads do we need?

As many as it takes before ISD get sick of them and consolidate them all.

But then we’ll get all the butt hurt threads from these snowflakes that think they deserve to keep their own thread separate.

I feel like this is going to be one of those days.
